That would be true if you were the only one on the road. Sadly, here the roads are filled with (literally) pussies who cant or dont want to learn how to driver properly in the snow. Instead they advance at superslow speeds and still manage to hit each other.

I must admit, on my way to the airport last week and particularly on the parking lot there (which was almost entirely empty) I even found my measly 150 BHP FWD Golf quite amusing...once I turned ASR (anti slip regulation) off - heck, I even managed it with my silly little 206 and its whopping 75 BHP Cool Face

Well it's not really about speed when playing around on snowy roads/parking lots/open areas. And I never play around in traffic, only when I'm alone on the road.

But taking really wiiiide curves with full on sliding is a surefire way to get a smile on your face.

And garus, haha, I wish I had "shitloads" Razz Just don't spend money on things you don't need (ok, things under say $100 then Laughing) and manage funds, makes so much difference Smile

I've said it numerous times before, but I don't drink, smoke/use any tobacco etc, and I share living expenses with my GF.

Oh, and you wanna know what costs money? Building an engine for a reliable 600+ hp.

Some of you, if any, might remember I have a Nissan 200SX S14 too, which was built by the previous owner for about 400hp. I upgraded the head on that with porting/polishing, new cams, intake, injectors etc and set a goal of 500 hp at the crank.

What happens? Bearing failure. So now, I'm redoing everything from the ground up, and it's no secret that it costs money.. New fuel system (for E85), new bottom end, intake, transmission, clutch, engine management system.. All of these were already changed/upgraded previously, but this is just me taking it to the next level. I see no reason why I won't have 600-650 hp when I'm done. What I won't have is traction though, but I'll get to that in due time Very Happy

Just kicking out the back in general gets a smile on my face, haha Very Happy

Snow just makes it more fun because then even with a low powered FWD car you can get the back to kick out and go into a controlled slide; especially at low speeds it's still piss easy to recover all traction. Does require an engine that can rev fairly well though, which is why my 206 (1.4L 8V petrol) was fine at it, wasn't doable with my cousin's 206 TDI Smile

With my 225/40R18's on my Golf now I've noticed that it actually loses traction very easily as soon as it gets a little slippery though, a bit too easily really, need to get a second set of rims and winter tyres :<

Right now it's matte green, because I got a roll of 30m of it, plus a roll of carbon vinyl, so I decided I wanted to try out a full car wrap. Wasn't fun at all, but at least now I can say I've done one

It's nice to have during the winter though, you can use a broom to clean off the loads of snow after snowfall without worrying about the paint, or anything else that might scratch it (like chipped paint because of rocks etc).

Without the vinyl:

And yes, it's a wagon! But with the STI engine and interior Smile

But it is! WRB, the "Impreza blue" Smile But the photos may be misleading, it looks a bit dark in the first, and a bit light in the second (scoop shot). But yeah, it's the proper Impreza-blue alright.

Heh yeah, been thinking of a set of Prodrive PF7s for the summer tires, in gold. Would be nice. We'll see when summer comes Smile

Because this is my daily car, much more practical than the standard version. I've had one GC8 and one GDB STI before this one:

There, crappy snow shot from last week with my glorious phone camera! Should've taken one after I had my fun as well, this was at like 6am on one of Eindhoven Airport's parking lots Laughing

Also hilarious to see just how ridiculously bright my license plate lights are; the original ones were broken, figured I'd replace them with LED ones. At least I can be sure people see me from behind now, no need for a fucking fog light (do have it though) Laughing

Edit: also shows just why my tyres don't provide a lot of grip, they're so damn thin. Need to drop down to 17" or maybe even 16" for winter tyres if the weather gets any worse than last week.

It's a nice car though Smile And yeah, haha, those plate lights sure light up Laughing

And yes, wide, low profile tires aren't the best for winter! Go for fatter on the profile and slightly skinnier ones instead.

Yeah, I'll probably just drop to 205 or 195 wide with 16/17"; that'll allow me to go up to 60% over my 40 (for 16" anyway) without the speedometer fucking up (lots of them around here) Laughing
