Sometimes curiosity makes us do the worst things. Razz

It happened to me too that I didn't particularly like a certain game and yet continued to play it until the very end just because of the story ( Mass Effect 2, Spec Ops and many others), though lately the lack of free time is definitely saving me from being too masochistic.

Let's say that I'm less tolerant than before, since as soon as I realize that I don't like the gameplay, the shift-delete-hammer strikes. Laughing

So let me understand, you've played for who knows how many hours already, don't like it, yet willing to finish it? Scratch Head Never understood how or why people do that.
Will you then moan and bitch how bad it is, after 40-60 hours of gameplay, sabin style? Laughing

Yet presumably if someone played it for 10 minutes and said it was shit, you'd be complaining they can't comment on it because they didn't play it long enough?

Game quality is not a binary scale. There is some gradation between awesome and shit. Many games that are mostly terrible still have some small redeeming qualities here and there. And in the case of AC3, there was always going to be the fact that people wanted to see how the trilogy (in 5 parts) finally played out, and thus would finish the game even if they didn't like it much on its own merits.

Whatever the case may be with Charles, I don't like the way he was written. Of course, AC has had worse (Cesare Borgia says hello to his guards).

Charles did have some awesome facial expressions, though. Very Happy

Unless Lee is supposed to be mentally deficient and/or bipolar, he was written very badly imo.

So the game crashes with little green dots all over the screen all the time. What is the problem here? It's certainly not with my hardware, as I've been playing Far Cry 3 and Hitman with absolutely zero issues.

It is apparently not normal. It is either the drivers or the hardware. Switch between different versions and see if the problem persists. There's nothing more that I can say since I played the game from start to finish flawlessly.

1) you likely have an nvidia GPU that needs overvolting in several dx11 titles
2) lrn2google Razz I typed assassin's creed 3 green dots crash and got this as the first result http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/728853-Assassin-s-Creed-III-Crashing-Green-Snow-GTX580-Forums

Yeah I know for instance that my GTX 570 works better when overvolted (and also overclocked btw). With default voltage and clocks she's not happy at all Razz

I also either have to increase voltage or decrease core clock to reference values (this is a factory OC card) to be able to run DX11 titles without issues. DX9 works fine.

This is with GTX 570. Seems like an issue the 5 series have.

Wow, no, I don't need to underclock it at all. If anything I cranked the clocks up along with the voltage and works much more stable than with factory values (EVGA GTX 570 SC here).

So what do I have to do? And it's not "several" DX11 titles, because Assassin's Creed III is the only one that has this problem. I can play pretty much everything else without problems with my GTX 580.

I tried using both latest Beta drivers and the latest WHQL driver from NVidia, same issue happens with all. Sometimes it crashes right away, sometimes I can play for hours before it happens. I thought at first that it was the "prefer maximum performance" power setting in the drivers control panel, but it didn't really make a difference.

Use afterburner or something to slightly raise your card's voltage. Crashes in dx11 games with overclocked nvidia GPUs are very widespread (ok, I understand it's the only game that does this for you, but I'm fairly confident that's the culprit).

Alright so I'm just over 40 hours into the game already (steam stats fucking scare me)....

Just finished sequence 9, and I guess I'm probably not too far from being finished with the game (12 seq?). It's all this side shit that's keeping me busy for most of the time, was pretty surprised by how many homestead missions there are and I always go for the navy missions, I can't get enough of them. They are just awesome. Also captain kidd missions were fun.

Funny enough, I care more for the homestead side mission and liberation mission characters than I do for the main story ones. Conner is.... man, I just don't know, I just don't really like the guy. He seems pompous and arrogant to me. I though you are supposed to like the guy you play, and I just couldn't give two shits about him. I care more for the people that live around my homestead honestly, they seem nice grinhurt

Should be finally done with it by the next few days, and I'm glad. Enjoyed the game probably more than I should have, and would probably like it a lot more without all the glitches and annoyances. But hey.... can't have everything right?

7/10 .... nah, 8/10 fuck it.

Altair was arrogant. Connor is a stoic and blunt person. There is a huge difference. If you compare him to Altair and Ezio, he is the most selfless character in the entire series. Everything he does, right upto the endgame is for his people.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

I think it's just the way he talks, his voice, plus some of his interactions with Achilles. Makes me want to slap him.

Yeah, the voice does leave something to be desired. Great in some parts but phoned in during others. I actually loved how Achilles verbally pimp slapped Connor when he'd tried to discredit his training Laughing

My NVidia GPU isn't overclocked... but it seems to work, upped the voltage a bit and haven't crashed yet.

Yep, legit version here and not a single crash in more than 20 hours of gameplay.

Fully legit, bought the digital deluxe copy when it came out.
And I also keep getting the same DX crashes in Hitman, I'm starting to think it's the drivers.

Has nothing to do with it being legit or not, the game is just crashing on me from time to time.

Edit:
Did a clean old-school install (safe mode driver clean) and still no go with the 310.70WHQL divers, same as with the other WHQL drivers.
Nvidia are really starting to become really bad at this coding drivers thing.
