I finished that Chinese torrent long ago, haven't bothered to install it just yet. But the forum is a reliable one, it was where I get torrents long before I even know I can just google "torrent" to find torrents. Very Happy

Update: Indeed I can confirm it works so far. No problems from character creation to the first few minutes in gameplay.

Theta 2010 version is the real deal.

Unfortunatelly, there is already new patch 2011.

So theta can't be updated either? Is there any version that can actually be updated?

are their some bugs with rolls:
Imoen
Short short +2
level 6
Thaco 17
str 9

When she strikes her roll is 10+1
according to the AD&D strength chart, 9 doesn't mean any penalties. She also has her 1 pip in short sword

I cast strength on her to give her an 18/50 strength and it says that her modified thaco is 14, which doesn't make much sense. How is it coming up with that?
She gets +2 for her strength and +2 for the short sword

Should be 13, but when she attacks it's going around and making it roll+2
what is this sudden +2 that was +1 before? I've noticed this before with another character and something just doesn't seem to be adding up at all dice and modifier wise.

i think its reporting the base thac0 wrong. lvl 6 thief should be thac0 18. with specialization (+1 hit + 2 dmg), a +2 sword and str 18/50 (+1 to hit +3 dmg) it adds up according to my math.

Even the ipad version is supposed to be very hard to control (looting, opening doors etc) according to some sites. It must be next to impossible on an even smaller screen.

Trust only info that is given on character screen, that is shown at the right side of character portrait. That place uses original Bioware code, and is the only one that is not buggy.

All other places, that give similar info (thac0, ac, etc...) , are bugged as hell. This includes rest of the places on character screen and everything on inventory screen.

EDIT:
Actually, this seems to be fixed with patches. I have noticed no issues using theta release that is patched to 2010. Unlike original release (version 2007), that was a mess.

^Note that Theta 1.0.2011 update requires their release that is version 1.0.2010. It will not work over skidrow version, since it "patches" files from v1.0.2010.

Does anyone else get all the stores not listing prices and instead having some kind of "item price" word in the spot where the price should be?

So, after a few weeks of testing. Any reason to buy this over the Original with BiG World mods? (Except for the hassle installing the mods)?

I am not interested in two-three new NPCs.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Mods are slowly being updated and made compatible with this release (There was a very useful link posted earlier, I tried the tweak mod there once it had been updated a bit more and it worked just fine.) so in time this might become even better plus it's regularly updated.
(It's also already on the BG2 engine which might make certain things easier, I don't have much knowledge about Infinity Engine however or mods for it.)

Unsure if it's worth purchasing if you already have the base game and extra content (GoG for example.) perhaps wait for a discount sale as the current price is still around 20 USD or so?

Well the Trilogy Mod works very well. I only ask myself what "more value" you get over the original game, for 20€.

In the BiG World project, you have this Infinity Animation mod which updates several models to more recent IA games, and I find, Improves the game. There are also several other mods like the OPP (One pixe productions) that really improve the game.

Ah, maybe I just dl the THETA rlz and make the comparison myself. Smile

- few portraits which artstyle doesnt match previous ones
- 3 bugged npcs
- one simple location with arena like fights (few h of gameplay depends on your level, if you played bg1-2 guess it will be smth like 2-3)

obviously not worth 20E, pirate it or play modded, merged bg1+2 which is the only proper way of playing this game now.

Stuff like OPP was already added to the game. Here's a thread that lists mods that : are not needed/currently work/may work/partially work/do not currently work in BGEE :
http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/6967/bgee-mod-compatibility-thread/p1

I would say that if you already have a list of mods that you like using with the original games, BGEE isn't worth it *right now*. The original games modded to suit your taste will probably be better than unmodded BGEE.

That's why I'd recommend to wait a while. With BGEE being easier to mod + the developers quickly releasing new patches (and having some cool stuff planned) you can simply give it some time. You'll have access to old mods you liked, new mods, and improvements being patched in.

Thanks for the answers Kanint and remyleblau!

I'll just replay using Trilogy and a few other mods.

Maybe I'll buy when there is an EE for BG&BGII combined with BGIII (If they ever do it).
