There are massive migrations from the Matrix going on right now, so many places had a huge influx of refugees. I think some places had to close themselves off and block new registrations until things settle down.

Still works if you are logged in.
I guess the guys just want to save bandwidth by serving up blank pages for unregistered users while the exodus from nzbmatrix lasts.

Well...goddammit.
I've been using usenet for about twelve years now and have been getting wary of how many new people have been jumping on the bandwagon. I just hope that things settle down soon and that a new indexer pops up. I knew that I should've been looking for another backup (as NZBMatrix was my backup for Newzbin1&2) ever since Newzbin2 closed last week.
Oh well, the precedent has been set and there is little anyone can do about it.
I suppose it's back to spooling headers from usenet groups...

I have to wonder if the likes of Morganelli got so efficient at taking down content from Usenet because all they did was simply monitor indexers? With NZBMatrix now gone it'll be interesting to see whether content stays up long enough for people to grab it. This will just result in a shift back to the old ways and hopefully the masses will move on to their next victim.

I think they are at least smart enough to monitor the most popular indexers, so I doubt this will simply stop with NZB Matrix gone.
All they need is a functioning usenet search engine really, and then it won't matter much which indexer you use.
The exception being an indexer that also has active posters who can add "hidden" releases to the index. Those also will need to keep a low profile or it will be same story all over again.

There is no sense in posting private or membership required usenet indexers. After nzbmatrix went down they all have closed registrations to avoid the incoming shitstorm of matrix orphans.

i went back to downloading torrents and using tpb. No need for any of this hassle anymore. And torrents are better and more popular then ever. Last dexter has over 15000 seeders.
Now checking if sickbeard actually works with torrents (it should, no ?`has an option anyways).

Guys, http://usenet.elit3ge.net/ is accepting new members and looks pretty good, even though some sections are empty. A good alternative 'till something more professional pops up.
TV section is pretty detailed as well

Can you lads help me out? I still cannot get nzbs.org to load, still a blank page. My mate who lives a couple of miles away can get it to load fine, we are both with the same ISP (Virgin) and are using the exact same address and neither of us have VIP account son there. Any ideas?
Thanks

Yes, enforcing copyright protection is SUCH a Nazi thing to do.
Also, my goodness you guys are spoiled. I remember the pain of queuing up for files in AOL chatrooms or IRC channels. . .searching through peoples list, desperate and hoping to find Skies or Arcadia.
This really only affects folks possessed of a need for INSTANT gratification.

I think this affects people that don't want to spend a noticeable portion of their free time hunting down downloads.
While searching and finally finding that one precious thing you wanted to download added to the experience and made it feel more "special" for sure, I do feel that I have more important things to take care of nowadays, and don't have that much time to do it.
I mean... look at all those games I still need to play! And TV shows to watch! ... and movies!

I have a question here for anyone that has the answer. I've been using Usenet for years now. However, recently I have had this weird issue: Some nzb files just would not download, 2 examples I remember is Borderlands 2 (PC) and most recently the dark knight rises. It seems that any nzb files related to the dark knight just won't download, it starts but the speed is always at 200 B/s. If I try any different file then I get full speed. Could this be related to all these take downs I have been reading about? Any insight is welcome!
Thanks.

Yeah that is weird, I've had the same thing happen to me today. Dark Knight won't download no mater what, comes to around 80%, and the speed drops to 1 B/s... won't repair
