From what I've heard, that's a basking shark - a shark which eats almost only plankton and the likes, certainly not humans. They are in Scotland, and Scotland only has that type of shark. And those people probably spend A LOT of time out on the water, so I'm sure they know what they're dealing with. So it's not like he got kicked in the water with a great white or anything.
Is it a dick move? Sure it is. But it's not like he was inches from actually dying, which almost everyone thinks.

Let's just assume that the shark heading towards us is a plankton eater and kick in our best friend. What if it wasn't. You know what they say about assumption.
And why did this plankton eating shark lunge towards him/boat? Normal people would see a shark and tell their friend to maybe sit down so that he/she doesn't fall in. No matter what freaking shark they saw.
