If you can buy an advantage, yes. How hard is that to understand? Better than subjectively deciding "oh this advantage isn't that big because I love Riot and am eternally grateful they let me rent ward skins for $7.99 a week so their game isn't p2w"

No point argueing, it seems everyone has a different definition of Pay2Win.

I'll stick with mine, anything you can buy for money that gives you an advantage over others and is not obtainable by other means is Pay2Win.

I personally don't even think LoL is all that p2w, just pretending it absolutely isn't seems silly in my opinion. There's games where buying an advantage is huge, games where you can buy a moderate advantage, and games where you can buy absolutely no advantage.

Buying champions for a temporary advantage before they are nerfed is largely insignificant compared to the fact that their business model encourages them to churn out champ after champ of anime dudes and sexy girls.

I'd much rather play a game where new heroes are introduced because a legitimately good idea called for it, not to fill the quota of "brawler" champions with models that pander to 14 year olds for this month. I mean just look at how generic their designs have become since the original champs, which were legitimately interesting takes on dota heroes (many of them anyway)

By someones definition of what p2w is, every god damn free to play game is p2w. Some guys are just being too damn unreasonable. Please give me examples of a f2p game which is not p2w then? Sigh.

Some people just want everything for free, guess what, the world doesn't work like that. So damn unrealistic.

No exp boost you say? I proof you otherwise, again invalid point.

Kind of owned yourself there, because that is not tied to anything ingame, at all...

And seriously, you have to PAY to get into tournaments Laughing

My bad, now I see you're just trolling. Crying or Very sad

Xcuse me?! Battlepoints are for lvling up, so a boost that gives you 75% more battlepoints isn't the same as a xp boost according to you? Laughing
Because his point was that because LoL has a xp boost it's Pay2Win, nothing more, nothing less..

Oh and what an obnoxious champion select Laughing

Because XP boosts help you level faster to unlock cosmetics. Not heroes. Not weapons with different modifiers. Cosmetics.

That's the proper way to do it. Not LoL's bullshit

Why use autism to point out?
I have fucking autism, don't use it for own benificial purposes just because people don't think the way you do.

Think before you speak about such things..

But... but... I have to yell at people! Sad

The amount of lack of and misinformation on ALL SIDES in this thread is horribly painful.

Since I don't play DotA2 I can't comment on that, however I can try to clear up some things that people seem to be misinformed about League of Legends.

LoL has you unlock them either with influence points you gain through playing or, if you really want to, with money. As we've seen already some people already classify this as pay 2 win.
I'm pretty much in the camp that paying money to save time isn't pay to win but whatever. To each his own.
Further there seems to be a rather big lack of information what can actually be bought with money in LoL.
Let me get that straight.
The stuff you can buy for money in LoL are.
Champions ( but we already established you can get them through just playing)
skins (pure cosmetics nothing more)
Rune Pages (only the pages, not the runes. Mind you, also available for influence points)
boosts (influence points boosts and xp boosts. XP boosts for your ACCOUNT which mostly is just for match making purposes)
ward skins (again, cosmetics. Don't want 'em, don't buy 'em)

You cannot buy runes or ANY sort of in game advantage with money.
(I'll pobably get people arguing that champions = ingame advantage. I don't even know how to respond to that, it's that ridiculous).
If this is pay2win for some people, you have a very weird definition of pay2win.

Apart from that can we PLEASE stop going all butthurt in the "my game is better than yours!" kind of way?

DotA2 and LoL are different games. Different games of the same, at this point, very small genre.
They offer different gameplay experiences and cater do different crowds. (queue the people going for the CoD and whatever hardcore multiplayer shooter there is argument)

Personally, I prefer LoL. I try to play a game of DotA2 every once in a while but it just doesn't appeal to me.
I feel the shop is too hard to navigate, the movement, attack animations, basically everything feels sluggish (for me. personal opinion, you are free to disagree).
I don't like that they use the UT announcer for killing sprees / first blood and the likes.
I find the kill messages "X just pwned Y's head" to be horrendously childish.
(I'm pretty sure some of those were already present in DotA but, surprise surprise, I never played that)

I'm not saying I'm a fan of everything in LoL.
The quite stale meta gets on my nerves (though it's interesting to see that as soon as someone deviates from it they start stomping faces).
I don't like how Riot (un)intentionally is going to, more or less, shut down smaller tournaments in season 3.
There's a whole boatload full of complaints about champion design (more the artistic side of it than the gameplay side).
The community can be quite toxic (but, as stated before I have yet to find nice people in DotA2 so there's that).

It's my personal opinion to not like these things. Others might like them or not notice or whatever. And that's fine.
Both games have a sufficient playerbase (which might even intersect at times, I know people who play both) to peacefully coexist. Theoretically.
But both sides are way too busy picking at the other one for no apparent reason other than a brief feeling of superiority.

Oh, and one last, competely general thing that is only partly related to this.
The fact that you don't like a certain thing - be it movie/game/book/tv show/food/type of underwear / whatever does not instantaneously make this thing bad. It just means you don't like it.

And that's my last (probably futile) attempt to get you folks to look at this in a more civilized way.
