Why?

Pro's and Cons?

Why do sooo people use this and think it's the greatest thing EVER!

I looked at it and I don't think I had full access to see everything if I did, the selection sucked. You gotta set up accounts, pay and yet everything and more is at your fingertips in torrents which has to be the easiest thing ever to do.

Then sales people try to push the EyeTV and Net flix thing on me and my understanding of that is that you gotta convert anything from netflix for EYETV to watch it. Why EYETV anyway when all I gotta do is plug in a cord to watch anything from my HD to TV.....

What am I missing..

I know a few console users who use it. I think it's the convenience and for the not too tech savvy people... At least the people who own a console. On a console you just select something and it plays. They have said that there isn't that much content on there and it doesn't get updated that much. I think two of them have now cancelled their subscriptions.

Smart TVs also usually come with it, so you have access to everything with just a click of a remote. Pretty convenient.

On PC I agree it's not much more useful than torrents.

Ohh ......console people. Ya, that makes sense. All the netflix braggers have consoles, well their kids do and they are not tech savy. They have computers but one has issues with hers, simple fix ...mac.

Thanks

Haha and I thought that I was alone, I've always wondered the same thing. Razz

I guess I've never really been too interested to inquire.. either because of my pirate soul or the fact that I don't own a TV big enough to actually watch movies on. xD

I use it as I like to pay for my content. All of the content being split between three providers is the issue though. If companies really wanted to stop piracy they could go a long way by just giving all of the content to one provider, or all of the content to every provider.

I hate the media industry, bunch of money grubbing ass holes, they deserve to be pirated.

If you can open it and it may be easy to use but it sounds like you can't just watch whatever you want. I've seen all the popular movies so their selection would REALLY suck for me. I usually grab them as soon as they are released, but short a few days of being released on DVD.

And what I do, really it takes like 10-15 mins to download something. I do my search and by the time I shower and get ready for bed it's there. I never watch TV. I'm too busy to coordinate my schedule with TV schedule. I have this handy dandy widget that gives me the heads up and coundown when new eps come out on the shows I watch and just go from there.

Didn't know iphone people use it too.

my step mom has an account on it and we put it on the playstation so i could use it too. in my experience, the canadian version is lacking a lot of content (or was when i tried it a year ago). i mostly used it for a week when i was sick as hell and just wanted to lay on a couch. i watched walking dead, trailer park boys and red dwarf. three things i probably would never have thought to download (im not a big tv/movie watcher). i was glad it was available for that moment in my life, but i havnt used it since. for what it is, it works great. its also very easily replaced with a tiny bit of effort (torrent+streaming to your 'home theatre').

Why not you say on a pirateforum? Smile I understand some people that wants to buy the dvd to support the maker or to have it on the shelf. With Netflix you just pay a middleman - if they had content I couldnt get any other way then fine - but ive just had Netflix for free for 3 months and other than seeing some random series with subs, I didnt care (and I did try the english, american etc versions as well).

But if it continues to improve in the future and we get progams instantly etc. then sure.

The sole reason I'm using it is because my gf can't watch English movies without Swedish subtitles. And sometimes it's a pain in the ass trying to find subtitles for movies, the convenience with netflix is that all movies are subbed. Very Happy

Netflix exists for one sole purpose and that is to provide you a vehicle to experience the greatness that is PARTY DOWN!

Never use it for movies, just tv shows.

And for the price, it is great.

A service you pay for should at least have all the major TV series AND all the seasons IN HD!

Not going to ever happen, unless they jack up the subscription price considerably. At which point they'd lose the majority of their customers anyway.

I had netflix for well over a year. At first it was nice, had the single blu-ray package and instant streaming goodness, I used it almost every week to get new blu-ray releases.

it was definitely nice when I was stuck somewhere, just throw on my headphones and watch it through my phone. But then we got HBOgo, and my cable provider also has a streaming service now. So I literally have more shit to watch than I know what to even do with, cancelled netflix and never looked back.

Iv got high expecations, but FFS... voddler is fine, because it has free movies. But I stopped using it pretty fast as I saw the pay-two-watch movies where increasing (yeah no shock there)

Warez is still the best way to go imo Wink

It's convenient and low price. Don't even try to compare this this legit service to torrents. Apples and oranges people.

Yeah the selection is not great, but it will get better. They also have many TV shows that you can watch without selling your soul to the cable company.

Convenient because every god damn device can play it anytime. My kid can get up in a morning turn on the TV (or PC, or laptop, or tablet) and watch her favorite cartoons without advertisers trying to sell her crappy toys.

My wife can watch a movie or a show using her tablet when on a break at work . Should I tell her to go and get a torrent of it instead?

What I don't understand is the people that need to watch all those modern shitty movies as soon as they are released. I have enough self control to wait until they are on Netflix, and if I really want to see something new, I can always rent it for 2 bux.

edit: Many people that use Netflix also use other streaming services like Hulu+ and Amazon on demand. This increases your selection drastically and still cost far less then the basic cable subscription.
