i'm a slow browser and sometimes have forums open for 10 minutes while i browse something related to another topic
and then when i come to the page and click for new posts, it marks me as logged out and when i get back in whines "No new posts since your last visit"
this is really annoying
it's clearly a timeout somewhere, as it only occurs when i'm slightly slow to the page
could this timeout be increased somewhat so this doesn't occur as often?

Slow browser here also... But I think its more than 10 minutes, more like an hour or so...
Since I usually let me browser run for days without closing it down, I just learn to live with it.

Why don't you guys use your 3rd mousebutton and through all pages of new posts and open all threads relevant to your interest at once, read all of them and when you finished reading them just search again? Works for me

I usually do that, but, for instance, I went to buy bread just 10 min ago, and had opened the View new posts in new tab. By the time I got home when I tried to look at the thread it gave me the no new posts message.
Plus if I open them in new tab, and go for 10 min, after if I want to reply, I also get some error :\

yea, i do that, but there's a bunch of forums i want to read and i would have to specifically search the forum page again when i've opened the tabs from another
in the meanwhile, i got bored and added a feature to the humpinator that fixes this issue;
http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2018184#2018184
needs proper testing and garus' approval, and it's far from an optimal solution, but it's something

*bump*
i added fix to humpinator for this but it's really not optimal
the first version is linked in previous post
it visits the pages, marks them read and ddoses the server
my second version gets the oldest unread post by making a search for the entire alphabet on the thread
this doesn't mark it as read, but now it is a search ddos on the server, which i imagine is even worse
optimally this would be a serveside fix

any chance of making the links absolute?
i'm still forced to use my less than optimal humpinator script
or if the forum would expose a list of oldest new posts in threads like there is of new posts, i could pick it up from there for humpinator implementation

had firefox crash today and was ready to get annoyed with the forum again, but it appears 'newest' links now redirect to absolute links!
thanks <3
