Yeah, it's around ~20 hours I'd say.

If you skip all the cutscenes (like me), the main story is about 7-8 hours long. You spend more time watching a movie than actually playing the game.

skip the cutscenes in a story driven game?

Yep, I don't care about the story, I just want to climb buildings and kill people. Otherwise, I go to the cinema. IMO, too many cutscenes like AC3 or Max Payne 3 kill the game and I hate to be interrupted every 5 min, lose the character's control and watch him doing blabla and shits.

Why don't you play something else than, like Follow The Objective Marker™: The Game?

What's the point if you don't know what's going and just follow markers?

Sounds to me like he actually wants the freedom to run around the world and do what he wants - the opposite of follow the marker games.

I think it's understandable overall, but this is a game that puts a lot of emphasis on the story, so it's simply not a perfect game for him Razz

I prefer games where you never lose the control of the character, it's way more immersive to understand a story (Half Life, Doom 3, Dark Souls, Stalker, Portal, FarCry, Bioshock...).

So NFOHumpers like interactive movies in which they move the hero 1/3 of the time, that's new

Play Far Cry 3. It has a mediocore story and it doesn't force you(Aside from the annoying reminders) to do story missions. But story missions are good, it's like a new CoD set on an island and lets you play as you desire. You can burst in, stealth, do hit'n runs etc.

Also, have fun with the "awesome" save system and unbelievably retarded unskippable cinematics when you load your game (over and over and over and over and over and over...) Sad

Like I said in the FC3 thread, it is only the first hour of the game that forces you to do something. The rest is better, FAR BETTER than any SP FPS out there since Metro. And Metro was bugged, unstable in terms of AI as well.

Assassin_s.Creed.III-DELUXE.DLC.PACK

Are those the same or do they unlock different DLCs?

There is a great Savegame tool allowing you to pretty much do everything with the save. You can make every save to work with THETA, SKIDROW, RELOADED crack's.

Edit:
Noticed that lag in Boston is gone for me when its raining or its dusk or night. Quite strange, but i use this time to play side missions and collectables with no lag. Surprised

So I'm going to try AC3 again with the latest drivers. Hopefully this time the game won't randomly crash and performance will be a bit better. They really need to patch this game tbh.
So many weird things have already happened while playing it, such as people randomly dissapering/re-appearing, enemies on my mini-map yet they're not really there. Going to the highest point and yet not getting the map reveal but only if I actually run around.
This game really is buggy as hell. Sad

Lowered visibility as well (and maybe less npc's as well).

Stupid sequences go by too fast - I'm in seq. 9 now and still have barely any progress made in the homestead.

you have to add all your keys in the game, i think it's under extras > redeem

once you do it, it will tell you what you actually unlocked. If you go into your homestead secret basement room thingy you should see your new outfits and a few new weapons as well...

BTW, anyone gain any performance out of the latest nvidia drivers. Seems exactly the same for me....

I put around five hours into this and encountered my first bug just now.

During a cutscene, Connor was run over by a carriage, and when the cutscene ended he was stuck inside it and dragged along.

His head was coming out the horse's ass. Reaction

The game sells insanely well, above double to almost triple the amount of copies the previous games in the series sold in their opening month.

Assassin's Creed IV, V, VI well on the way I guess.

Will this storyline ever end? Talk about milking a franchise.

Anyway, I reached the part where you command three rifleman squads, it's boring.

It's been fun so far but this part isn't hard or anything, it's just boring.

Desmond's storyline is over at the end of AC3, though he might appear in a different form in AC4, if that makes any sense.

It will be interesting to see what the plot for a new series is, what with the ending of AC3. I personally think the best idea would be to ditch the whole animus/ancestral memory thing altogether and just play directly as some historical assassin. But I can't see them abandoning such an established plot device, and I guess it does make for a handy way of jumping between a whole host of otherwise disparate characters, locations, and time periods. Whatever happens, I just hope we finally get to see a game set in Sengoku Japan. If ever there was a game series tailor made for playing a ninja, surely AC must be it.

I'm really disappointed by the overall story. It shows that they never made a proper roadmap for the AC series. The writing is
all over the place with inconsistencies everywhere with their plot puking.

Using only 3 assassins , never detailing more ancestors, never giving a face to more than one or two people from the Templars
and going as far as using a comic character to pad out the story due to the lack of enemies. Then the way he was treated... Laughing

But it would be wrong to not mention the flashes of greatness in the writing which were present in AC1,AC:R and AC3.

P.S. What happened to the "find eden" plot-point at the end of Brotherhood? It was dropped unceremoniously Neutral

1 and 2 are still amazing.
