ugh. ok, special arrows are shit. thanks for ruining what should have been one of the neatest things in this game... the opportunity to be rambo.

FINALLY got explodey arrows... drove my car to where i needed to go, hopped out, ran a bit up the road, equipped explodey arrow, and took aim at the car... i was almost giggling with the joy i was about to experience...

I aim...

I fire..

*PAFF*

...explosion... smoke... yeah ok thats a bit underwhelming, but fine whatever... i tossed a grenade at a car once and it needed two grenades to get a decent explosion, so i aimed again... fired...

*PAFF*

FUCKING COME ON... smoke clears, cars not even damaged.. no smoke coming out of it, its pristine! (well as pristine as anything can possibly be on this shithole of an island...)

ok lets fire the rest of my explodeys and see if ANYTHING happens... brb...

ok FINE it exploded.

took FIVE EXPLODEY ARROWS. imagine if that shit happened to rambo.

and i dont even know if its the explosiveness that mattered or if its just arrow damage.

these arrows are lame as fuck (fire ones dont start fires so theyre worthless, explodey ones are weak as piss...)

special arrows need a buff!

That's a bit odd though, since the signature sniper rifle disables a vehicle (and gets it to burn Razz) with just 1 shot to the engine.

The whole game felt lame at the end... full of wasted potential...

Since they didn't make (all) the same mistakes they did with FC2.. maybe FC4 will be almost perfect. But they really have to work on the repetitiveness (those sidestuff was mostly just achievement crap), stop wasting genius characters like Vaas (he's only got about 5 minutes of screentime and after watching the hilarious video series, Far Cry 3 experience, I expected way more... but no.. let's don't do that... idiots), work on the loot and especially balancing in general, to have somekind of gear progression throughout the game... exploring was totally unrewarding.

It was still a fun ride though. But once again it could have been so much more. That's what happens when publishers don't give enough time for projects like these (propably intentional because a FC4 is surely in the planning stages already, if they're not already coding).

I'm glad that I didn't cave in and buy it even though the hype was strong with this one.

*EDIT* And before someone even dares...

so was i.. UNBELIEVABLY excited Sad

such a letdown. i wanted to blow up houses n shit, dammit. well maybe not Very Happy but atleast a car in a single shot, that'd be WORTH it, and would make for some real tactical fun... explosions but silent delivery... same with flaming arrows SHOULD be able to start fires.

i dont even know why ubi bothered with special arrows... theyre not worth the effort, id rather keep the molotovs and grenades.

While I'm still having a lot of fun, I'm a bit disappointed with the gameworld. It feels really lifeless to me, not much happens. Even some scripted events now and then would be acceptable. The SQs are also so shitty, obviously basic additions to lengthen gameplay time.

One sniper rifle round to the back of the head for Vaas heavies, and one sniper rifle round through the visor for the privateer heavies.

Easy. =D

OK so i installed the game today and just finished playing with settings to found what was the best performence/visual quality for me.

Is it me of does MSAA has pratically zero or very minimal impact on FPS ? Because normally my card can handle MSAA x2 fine but in other games i see a drop in performence on anything that is 4x or ++. Now there is like 1 or 2 FPS difference or sometimes not at all between Off and 8x MSAA. I do see an improvement in image quality even though it doesn't seem to be as pronounced as in other games with MSAA ive played.

Running on a AMD 6950 2gb @ 1080p with everything on Very High (or High depending on the setting) except Post FX to medium (that's just a performence rapist) , DX11 , HDAO. Getting 40-50FPS most of the time depending on where i am.
I am just a bit baffled at how MSAA doesn't seem to have much an impact.

Sorry if something similar was already asked in the thread btw but i don't feel like digging Razz

It's quite the opposite actually - MSAA has a very heavy impact on performance.
The only reason I can see for you not witnessing that impact (besides MSAA not actually working for you for whatever reason) is that you are at a point with your performance, where you are not really GPU limited, so adding MSAA to that simply doesn't have any effect. Say if your GPU load is at 60%, and with MSAA you will get 80-90% - there will be no changes in FPS, since it's not the GPU that is holding things back.

I still have issues with this game performing "badly" (45-50 FPS) in a few locations, with low GPU loads around 75%... kinda similar to the AC3 performance issues. In those cases I can also use MSAA with no significant losses Smile
Try this

open farcry 3 profile with inspector, and change SLI bits for DX11

not really the point... i dont want these arrows to be as good as grenades... i want them to be tactically useful, unique and worth the effort. i want them to do something COOL and bring SOMETHING to the game.

as it stands, they really are utterly useless... i base this on the fact that a rocket launcher or grenade launcher or, heck, just throwing a grenade, can do as good a job (or better) than these special arrows...

and im still reeling from learning that flaming arrows cant even be used to start bushfires...

like i said, these could have been such a great tactical tool to have. as it stands, im not even sure why the devs included them. ive found no real use for them, and every cool idea ive had on how i WOULD use them, have turned into failure because the devs unfortunately werent thinking along the same (cool!) lines as me Smile

Some where wondering if it rains in this game. Yes it does. I just had the first rain moments ago. And I wasn't in any mission, so it's not something very specific.

Why does the game remind me every few minutes I can either go to sunset cove or explore the island? Why is it so insistent? Usually you get such messages when a game is about to end.

I'll just go do some missions because the skills won't unlock either. I thought they were level locked or something, but I assume they're tied to the story in some way. Skill points are accumulating but there's nothing to spend them on.

The messages are so stupid I can't even begin to imagine who would've thought this was a good idea. The game is basically calling me a moron every few minutes, urging me to get on with the awesome story. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the storywriters was responsible for this Laughing

That sounds lame. Haven't played FC3 yet, but in FC2 shit went BOOM. Countless times everything went friggin' BALLISTIC after some fire or a grenade. And the exploding arrows were about as powerful as a grenade, usually 1-hitting vehicles. And vehicles could 1-hit other vehicles if close enough, I had seen 5 cars instantly exploding, epic stuff. I really felt like John Rambo sometimes in FC2, epic gunplay.

Yeah, but you don't really see their symbol on the map, at least at the beginning. I too am looking for tapirs.

I lol'd at this one part. At the beginning when you need to kill a guy who's harassing this town, I'm making my way through the brush when I see a checkpoint of 3 baddies on a road. As I'm coming close to figure out how to deal with them, gunfire erupts up towards me and I hear one guy scream about a komodo dragon. Then silence. A pack of them wiped them out so not only did I get loot, I went after the pack and killed/skinned them. Automatic weapons and they couldn't even bring them down.

Well it works perfectly for me and isn't hard if you know what your doing so im not sure how getting a game like a week or so before it releases in the USA "sucks ass" lol.

It's incredible stupid. Why not have the message come up ONCE (when reloading or restarting the mission instead of every 5 minutes). I really don't like being called a retard when playing games + it's fucking annyoing and distracting. Idiots.

agreed. the game is trying really hard to break immersion unfortunately :-(
could really use a more minimalistic interface that's not so in-your-face with everything.

Most are tied to two larger events in the storyline so initially you only have very basic abilities though then you become extremely powerful, some few also have special requirements like crafting ten syringes, killing enemies in certain ways and such.
