Im using the Russian one thats 7.3 gb with the English Language pack since it first released and i have had no problems at all: Far Cry 3 The Lost Expeditions Edition. | That crack sucks ass, because you have to tinker with that ubi online drm crap and English language files. |
Well it works perfectly for me and isn't hard if you know what your doing so im not sure how getting a game like a week or so before it releases in the USA "sucks ass" lol.

I am curious : give examples of those more entertaining efforts, Far Cry 3 borrowed from. I would like to play them, if i didn't already.
As for myself : i enjoyed Far Cry 2 more, it had that permanent feeling of darkness, hostility and hopelesness. I know most people here thought it was a below average game, but for me it was an amazing experience. Also the theme song was awesome.

Don't buy weapons, activate the radio towers to get weapons for free. I would only buy the signature weapons and maybe one or two weapon at the very beginning if necessary. Pretty much anything you do gives you money. Loot enemies and loot boxes and sell the loot, do missions etc. . I have too much money I stopped looting bodies but I have done a lot of the side quests.

You don't loot, you prolly don't check chests, you don't to side missions or challenges and yet you expect to be with the wallet full, dafuq logic.

For example, one lady asked me to walk maybe 20 ft and listen in on a conversation... I got $500 and it took me 20 seconds. Five hundred freakin dollars.
I did a challenge which involved running over enemy troops... a couple more hundred in a minute or two
Now go loot 50 corpses over an hour or two and see if the payout is the same
I only found looting helpful in the beginning when I didn't have much ammo or grenades because soldiers would carry both. They really, (and I can't stress this enough) really should have made looting + exploration for something, something other than just shitty objects that basically consist of text on screen with a value attached to it. They give out free weapons, vehicles, items, so the point of exploring for anything tangible is almost pointless.
How about being able to find decent weapons and items? Or rare ones you can't buy? The exploration in this game is okay, but the items you explore for are fucking shit. I keep expecting to see some rare items in all the far off tunnels and underwater caves I find. What do I get? Some piece of crap from a chest that means nothing, does nothing, that I will sell off like every other piece of junk. |
This +1
In the beginning I did loot cos I needed ammo
Then I got useless junk that took valuable space in the sack
I do loot chests etc but I stoped looting corpses
I hunt tigers for their skin to sell the thing is that I buy ammo for my guns and nevver go +

MinderMast wrote: | S.S.S wrote: | OK so i installed the game today and just finished playing with settings to found what was the best performence/visual quality for me.
Is it me of does MSAA has pratically zero or very minimal impact on FPS ? Because normally my card can handle MSAA x2 fine but in other games i see a drop in performence on anything that is 4x or ++. Now there is like 1 or 2 FPS difference or sometimes not at all between Off and 8x MSAA. I do see an improvement in image quality even though it doesn't seem to be as pronounced as in other games with MSAA ive played.
Running on a AMD 6950 2gb @ 1080p with everything on Very High (or High depending on the setting) except Post FX to medium (that's just a performence rapist) , DX11 , HDAO. Getting 40-50FPS most of the time depending on where i am.
I am just a bit baffled at how MSAA doesn't seem to have much an impact.
Sorry if something similar was already asked in the thread btw but i don't feel like digging |
It's quite the opposite actually - MSAA has a very heavy impact on performance.
The only reason I can see for you not witnessing that impact (besides MSAA not actually working for you for whatever reason) is that you are at a point with your performance, where you are not really GPU limited, so adding MSAA to that simply doesn't have any effect. Say if your GPU load is at 60%, and with MSAA you will get 80-90% - there will be no changes in FPS, since it's not the GPU that is holding things back.
I still have issues with this game performing "badly" (45-50 FPS) in a few locations, with low GPU loads around 75%... kinda similar to the AC3 performance issues. In those cases I can also use MSAA with no significant losses |
Yeah i know that normally MSAA is supposed to have a huge impact on performence, It does for me in other games and going from 0 to 2 to 4 ect is very noticeable everytime i up the settings. Like in BF3 going from normal AA to MSAA 2xc is seen immediately in terms of performence.
This is why i am a bit puzzled that it doesn't seem to do anything in Far Cry 3. I mean if i had a GTX 690 i could understand not seeing much of an impact but the Radeon 6950 2gb , although a pretty decent card , ain't a powerhouse compared to the current gen high - mid range cards. Normally i should see much more than a 1-2 FPS drop from going 0 to MSAA x8 and yet i don't. So either it's nor working properly or i don't know.
Anyway i just downloaded the 12.11 AMD beta8 drivers so ill give them a try and see if anything happens. Those are supposed to increase FC 3 performence for single GPUs.

I guess the signature weapon unlocks are how they did the weapon rewards, do a variety of tasks and you'll get a bonus weapon, they're pretty effective although you still have to buy them from the stores first.
(I like the tanto, better looking than the DLC knife and more effective too.)
As for items the shark tooth necklace is still the most valuable item I've found, valued 85 originally and 107 with the +25% value perk.
(Most others are fairly crap and below 50 in value but there are some other items that are worth looting, problem is it's random so you often get very poor loot from chests and soldiers.)
(Skins are pretty nice though, bear skins especially even compared to skins made for just selling like the well whatever that near extinct creature was named or the turtle - turtle isn't worth more than 10 though so that's kinda useless, ha ha.)
(There's a Albino alligator as well but there's only one of those - can get two skins though by a perk - via a hunting quest - come to think of it I am unsure which of those are specific to the Predator pack dlc but I doubt it's the ones for crafting the best items.)

True, you get nearly every weapon by unlocking the radio towers so all you spend money on is ammunition and the occasional supply item like body armor.
(And the maps, I nearly forgot about those.)
EDIT: (And item customization, I don't use the paint schemes much myself but I started unlocking them as there was nothing else to do with the money I have now.)

The 1911? The regular one has no attachment, the signature 1911 has a suppressor, red dot sight and extended magazine.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

There should be this week new drivers for AMD users, should give major boost to FPS. Tho its running now pretty good already, GPU usage just isnt at maximum.

The day and night cycle in this game sucks. In FC2, time used to progress at a constant rate. In this game it seems like its night time for 5 minutes and then daytime for 5 hours. And inbetween day and night lasts a couple of seconds...
