So I just got one of these for Christmas (yeah.. I know.. I don't do waiting Wink!).. What should I put on it? Game recommendations? Apps? Ideally free stuff but if its worth it my arm could be twisted into paying Razz! I've already spent £5 on a comic book reader app!

Loving it so far though, got it to replace my ipad v1 which was really starting to show its age, plus I wanted something smaller so it was easier to hold while chilling on the sofa/in bed. So far its been fantastic, just trying to get my tivo controller working but it seems virgin media fucked it up.

The one I bought for my wife about two months ago is dead now. I'm not sure if it's my wifes fault or cheap design, but she has a nice case for it and carries it in the purse all the time. When I try to power it on all I get is a bit of random noise on the screen. Before that I got random crashes, problems with disappearing shortcuts and other various problems, like the screen peeling off from the tablet. The OS is a fucking mess too which is a big disappointment to me. Once it works it's OK, but the WOW factor is gone fast.

I would recommend you get App Sales app or whatever it's called, obviously I can't check now. It will give a neat list of what they got on sale in the store.

As far as other apps/games go, I'm not sure what are you into, so It's hard to tell. I probably bought around 100 games so far ranging from FIFA 12 to Angry Birds. You might want to wait for holiday sales as many of the popular apps should go down to $0.99 or lower. You can stack up then.

I'll try to be more constructive when I get this thing fixed.

There is new firmware as of around 2 weeks ago which may help. I've been messing with it for a good 48 hours with no issues once all the updates got done.

You could always root it and install a custom ROM?

Kinda off-topic but Google Nexus 7 is made by Asus, and well I think they are pretty terrible when it comes to tablets. My sister is on her third Asus Transformer since last christmas.(All sorts from different problems, random reboots, wouldn't charge..etc). She didn't allow me to put any custom roms but oh well.

I was thinking about getting one too but she had plenty of issue with it after few months, and recently she told me screen becomes really unresponsive at times.

ASUS terrible? Quite the opposite from my experience. My mum and sister both have a Transformer (mum's got the original, sister's got the TF300), neighbour's got the original Transformer. None of them have had any issues, neither with the hardware nor software (all of them on stock software, always up-to-date). Sounds like your sister does something weird to them :/

Got myself Nexus 7 and it has been awesome, imo beats the shit out from iPad mini. As for the ASUS quality, there is glass separation problem on the Nexus 7, but its supposed to be fixed now (they removed couple screws from the casing, to avoid it).

Same here nouse, well, that and youtube. Still, I wouldn't mind a few strategy games to click away at while I'm sitting on the sofa, can't seem to find anything decent though. Any suggestions would be awesome.
