so i was strolling along through the jungle, and it suddenly hit me. no, i dont mean another fucking tiger, but a thought. i know EXACTLY what would be fucking epic in this game.

a t-rex.

i mean fuck realism, how awesome would it be to stumble across a fucking t-rex. even if it was just ONE on the entire island, how epic would that shit be. or maybe like have a lost world area and if you stumble into it you release it onto the island. i hate dlc, but i really think ubi should make a t-rex dlc pack that you can optionally enable (for teh fun!) or disable (if youre boring and want ur games to be srs and real Sad)

do it ubi. a fun free t-rex dlc! F-YEAH!

or if not, i hope the modding community does it.

PS: just unlocked the ripper. lol. going from a relatively slow firing assault rifle to a brrrrrrrt brrrrrrt sub is hilarious, especially up close..

ENEMY SIGH- brrrrt *urgh*
WHAT WAS THA- brrrrrt *hungghhaahhhhh*

and then i steal their wallets.

I prefer the shredder. It's got as much damage as the M14 thingy but the rate of fire bar is full and it's silenced. Instead of brrrt, it's trrrt. Very Happy

Nice Very Happy I love how Hurk makes mention to Bowa-Seko and the diamond conflict (The southern region in Far Cry 2) during the first monkey mission. I love those little references and details Smile

i must say... im feeling very underwhelmed by flaming arrows. i would have though 1... 2 tops would explode a car, a tad unrealistic but it would make tactical sense to using flaming arrows. no such luck. and theyre no DEADLIER than fricken normal arrows, atleast against the average dude...

anyone found them especially useful? if so, in what way.

fuck, i couldnt even start a forest fire with them. at one point i thought EPIC... dudes in open field, ill just pop one infront and one behind and watch them cook. nope. so much cool tactical potential, but nothing Sad

I feel you, I shot a fire arrow to a batch of grass some guy was standing on in an outpost. I shot one right under his feet and the grass didn't catch on the fire. Then I shot one at him b4 he could react. He died, fell while on fire, grass didn't catch on. So instead, I drove a car right into the outpost with a det pack, jump off right in time and trigger it, all grass is on fire. Yeah, I would say fire arrow is not worth it.

I seem to get this little but slightly annoying problem sometimes, i didn't really notice it at first but now i do more often.

It seems that when i approach rocks or some but not all trees at about 20-30 feet ingame, that there is some weird texture pop in sort of thing, but it kinda makes a funny pixilated effect almost look like some weird reflection/watery effect but im sure its not normal for any other game?

Has anyone seen anything weird kinda like this, i tried taking screens but it happens pretty fast like not even half a second and it doesn't look as bad in screenshots since its kinda like the texture is changing, but sometimes it can look horrible.

I know this game is known for texture popping but this seems different, i guess its when its changing the quality of the texture when im getting closer or farther away but it doesn't just pop into its lower or higher rez texture, it kinda fizzles into it and looks more distracting then if it just popped into it.

Any info would be helpful, thanks, maybe some setting in the config could help this?

EDIT: From what i looked up it seems like some sort of dithering effect maybe that happens when the texture changes from low rez to high rez texture at a certain distance if that helps explain it.

NVM, fixed it.

BTW, I'm seeing cheaters in MP already.

Unless I'm missing something, it isn't possible for someone to have 1000HP and survive a whole magazine to the face, and a grenade, and barrels of fuel dropped on his head.

so you managed to unload an entire magazine directly into his face, throw a grenade AND drop multiple barrels of fuel onto his head without dying? you're right, the game IS full of cheaters Mad

@JBeckman You have an updated Gamerprofile.xml file or is the one posted a few pages back still your current?

The only change is a shader related one.

<Shaders>
<shader name="CloudLayer" add="CLOUD_QUALITY_ULTRAHIGH" remove=""/>
</Shaders>

I am not sure it works or how different it is but the command is accepted without the config file resetting. Smile

Code:

 <quality
      id="high"
      DisableSky="0"
      RainNumSplashesPerSecond="30"
      ParticleUniformFogRangeThreshold="0.15"
      DisableGodRayCloudMasking="0"
      HighQualityParticles="1"
      >
      <Shaders>
        <shader
          name="CloudLayer"
          add="CLOUD_QUALITY_MEDIUM"
          remove=""
          />
      </Shaders>
    </quality>

See that even on the high preset the cloud_quality_medium one is still used? I went through the engine .dll file and searched around, at first I didn't find anything as I was searching for cloud_quality_high which it turns out does not exist, however cloud_quality_ultrahigh does exist, again I'm unsure if it works but it doesn't harm to try. Smile

Just some small corrections.
 Spoiler:

Deferred shadows were only used on PS3, I am unsure if it's for performance or something special but apparently the PS3 shadows can be rather dithered or something like that so it should remain disabled.

Cloud_Quality_Ultrahigh doesn't do anything since it's not bound correctly but I can't get that to work, should be with the environment tag but it doesn't quite work without causing the config file to reset.

cluster lod scale and terrain lod scale under geometry should remain at 1.0, rest can be lowered to 0.1 if desired but this can cause somewhat more noticeable fade-in of objects as more of them are being loaded, usually only noticeable after leaving a building when fast traveling. Smile
(The cvar for bloom was also added.)

(And the full default config xml files are still available via - http://www65.zippyshare.com/v/95341759/file.html for knowing which commands to add and where.)

that said, watch yer posts people. just because youve gotten to a stage in the story doesnt mean everyone else has, especially given that its only just been released and, shit, dont even think its come out (retail that is Very Happy) in america yet? thats what spoiler tags are there for. that, and hiding troll faces or explaining sarcasm or adding a redundant safety/back out of a contentious comment Wink

Developers bringing dubstep/skrillex or whatever it is that it's called into their games deserves to get a shotgun rammed up their ass

I thought it couldn't get much worse after trance/techno. I was severely mistaken Sad

Does the MQ send you all over the map? I'd rather follow the MQ and explore via that instead of randomly going to places. So far the MQ area seems limited.

The music fits the game. Almost any kind of music can be great in the right context.

Yes, definitely. If anything, finish the campaign. It's worth one playthrough atleast.

1 and 2 are still amazing.
