Yeah, I bought Dead Space recently and I don't intend to buy or play any of the sequels. I don't care if the story in the first one turns out to feel inconclusive (hopefully not).

this. the second one rocked, it built on the first one and kept the atmosphere intact... pity the 3rd one looks like its gonna be a space version of res evil 6,cut scene/qte,cutscene, let you play for 30 seconds/cutscene/qte

Personally I'd grab it, it's more direct and visceral than the first one and the main protagonist is more "badass" (in a bad hollywoodian way) but the gameplay is still good in my opinion.

Hahahaha that's exactly what worries me. I'm looking forward to play a semi-scary game, not an action roller coaster, plenty of those out there.
It's still quite scary if you play it on hard difficulty . Though it's definitely not subtle horror, it's more like the booo->surprise motherfucker stuff a-la Doom 3.
Yeah, I was talking more about something like F.E.A.R. Then, yeah I guess it's not for me, if I wanted Doom 3 moments I'd replay Doom 3 or a similar first-person shooter.
Fucking loved the first two dead space games. Probably one of the scariest games I've played in my life if not the scariest all together. The atmosphere and sound was everything, and it was done so well.
If the third has even a glimpse of that atmosphere I will still love it.
