Earlier in the month, we discovered a Korean rating for Ace Combat: Assault Horizon on PC, which indicated that’s where the game was headed next. This morning, Namco Bandai officially confirmed that Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is indeed headed to PCs in 2013.
“Ace Combat: Assault Horizon coming to PC and Digital Download on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360!” Namco’s UK Twitter feed shared this morning. PlayStation Network will see the game on November 28th, while Xbox Live will see it on December 18th.
Finally, PCs will get Ace Combat: Assault Horizon in Q1 2013, both at retail and as a downloadable game.
Update: Namco Bandai says Ace Combat Assault Horizon for PC has optimized controls and graphics. The PC version also includes DLC items like seven additional aircrafts, more skins, skills, and maps. Ace Combat Assault Horizon Enhanced Edition for PC supports multiplayer via Games for Windows. Like Dark Souls, Ace Combat Assault Horizon: Enhanced Edition will be available on Steam.
Namco Bandai doing a port with "optimized controls and graphics". Yea, like anyone is going to fucking believe that! They probably don't even know what a keyboard looks like.
So, is Ace Combat basically an even arcadier version of HAWX with godawful anime quality voice acting thrown in, or what? Think this is the first one to ever hit PC.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

everyone has their publisher that they hate... for most its ea or activision, but for me, its namco.
as for ace combat, i played one of the games (forget which, ace combat x i think?) on the psp, and i loved it... was a hell of a lot of fun, so i wouldnt mind stealing this for pc.
I love Ace Combat, but seriously? Of all the ace combat I want to play on PC, they have to port this one over. I know it is the latest one, so it make sense, but I hate the "real life" setting, and the tack on chopper missions.
Well atleast we are getting this on the PC, which means that if it does ok saleswise, we might see future ones ported over as well. Power to the PC I say
Zero is a great example as to what the series offer no other flight sims have imo. It is because the game is arcade and the setting is fictional, they can do whatever they want with the story and missions. I think the Ace combat games are really immersive and intense.
Damn, mate! Skies of Deception on PSP was a blast. It had a nice story, it was fast, it was furious and it had an incredible atmosphere for a handheld game.
And the main series it's even better. Shame that Namco choose the wrong title to bring Ace Combat on PC>
Actually, despite being arcadish, it takes thinking and planning the mission realy carefully. To get the ace title and unlock the special planes and parts, you need more than quick reflexes.
But the title chosen for PC, ain't exactly the best in the series. Still nice, but i think that most of us would rather have the fictional setting. It's so much better.

Gotcha , thanks for the explanation! Sounds worthy to be ISOdemoed then.
Actually, mate, an arcade flight sim, it's a nice change of pace
Indeed.
I actually enjoyed some of the first missions in HAWX, but then after in turned into an aerial mess with hundreds of missiles flying every where and stuff...
I uninstalled.
I remember a long time ago a game called Strike commander (1993).
I enjoyed it a lot.
I would love to see a game like this been released, it was some sort of Wing commander game but with planes.

Ace Combat series kinds of falls in the same category. You do have limited ammo (even on the guns), so you must think what targets you can kill in a dogfight, what targets do you want out with the dumb missiles and what targets you want taken out with the guided missiles.
Some missions will require precision bombing. Again, you will have to chose carefully the payload and the right plane for the job. It's probably the best arcade sim series made for consoles and surpassing, by far, a lot of the recent crap thrown at us on PC in the arcade flights sims area.
Strike Commander might have given birth to this series gameplay, too. Seeing that movie, i was able to understand why the Ace Combat series felt always so familiar to me...
