I hope it's a bug, but I seriously doubt it. | Sounds like a bug unless they launched this fix within the last week as I VPN unlocked Hitman Absolution with no trouble. |
I did the trick for Hitman too and it worked last week. This time around it's not working for FC3. | Er... cause it's still tied to an uplay account like AC3 is?

Well, I know Neon unlocked AC3 on steam 3 days before the release date for his region, so nope, that's not it.

At work right now so can't test it, but late last night I discovered a Far Cry 3 settings .xml file in either My Games/ Ubisoft / Far Cry 3 or user/appdata/Ubisoft/Far Cry 3/ , something like that.
After adding the english audio and text files posted earlier, I edited the registry and ended up with an english but no-voice version (like many others here). Uninstalled, and then found that .xml file. It may just save the game's settings (don't know, haven't tested), but it also showed some language settings. Maybe someone could try to change those to english, see if it works?

Very good perfomance here on q6600, ati 6850 (I know kinda bottleneck) DX11 enabled+multithreading on.Everything else on high/very high and HBAO. No crashes either.
Just a thought for those who have DX11 problems: Maybe this game too (like Absolution) requires the latest Windows updates?

Played the ruski version a bit, it seems like it's not the survival fps I was hoping for.
If you're on a mission and you try to drive back to camp because you need to go there, you're told that you're leaving a mission area and to go back or the mission will fail... Meaning you have to fast travel, you're forced to. Why do they have vehicles and "batsuits" again?
Also the hud cannot be hidden, which also ruins the immersion.
Aside from that it seems like a nice shooter, but not the survival fps I hoped for, more arcade style unfortunately.

Can we use the binoculars to scout a camp without it "marking" enemies and activating that wallhack shit? Or is that wallhack separate than the binoculars?

Looks like i've got some more bad news. Not only is the game uncrackable, there will be no English release either. So pull up your pants gentlemen. We are going back to school.

Dunia isn't very mod friendly either from what I know, editor is nice but making extra MP maps won't really help with the other game issues.
Heh, come to think of it I can't really remember any recent survival games aside from maybe Ubisoft's earlier "I am Alive" PC release.
(Or the recent Telltale Walking Dead adventure series perhaps, haven't played it yet and it's a different genre.)
The upcoming Tomb Raider game might perhaps also be interesting but it also seems to have been made more accessible.
(Granted Tomb Raider was more of a action / adventure game, not survival or horror.) |
It's more the fact that theres the whole crafting and hunting thing going on, which lead me to believe there wouldn't be so much handholding. Forcing the player to think on his feet, use the resources he finds and 'live off the land' as it were.
Instead you get free guns when you climb radio towers and it looks like the only incentive to hunt is to craft bigger loot bags.
And you can heal without having any cyringes, sort of semi regeneration by pressing Q.
Corpses despawn moments after having been killed as well, or atleast not enough time for you to loot a camp and leave without noticing the enemies you just killed having mysteriously disappeared.

Surely these kinds of annoyances can be fixed with a realism mod?

Also, why arent you able to call for backup? You got an entire rebel army behind you, you have a phone, why cant you use it. You're supposed to kill all of the pirates by yourself while everyone just hangs around? What kind of bs is that?
and lol @ ^, this isnt skyrim

That's a shame, I must be in the minority but I generally avoid using fast travel as much as I can.

But even that couldn't fix all that was wrong with FC2, mainly because it wasn't nearly as moddable as TES games are. There's no reason to assume FC3 won't be the same.

All the way on the left of the map, use hunters instinct to locate them, they run away easily

except for that leaving mission area thing but thats only with certain missions and that area is usually pretty huge

I freakin loved FC2! I didn't mind the long drives at all. In fact, I enjoyed travelling in that game
