Okay... seems I've figured out what might be happening with that ini stuff.
Simply changing that very Graphics DX11 line messes everything up. I am guessing the game fails to find the appropriate graphics options and puts everything on lowest possible.
If you check in options you will see that it's all on Normal, and my GPU usage dropped from 70 to 30%.
Funny thing is though, it did increase my performance: from 30-40, it went into high 50s and 60 in Boston.

Well FU Ubisoft and your goddam 'ending', ruined the game for me. There's basically no ending, a big "fuck you bitch, buy our next DLC/game!!!". Well fuck you too Ubisoft. I'm fine with using the AC universe for milking, milk that shit I don't care, but atleast end your goddam trilogy and start with something fresh. Unskipable credits? Really? I waited for ten goddam minutes and it wouldn't end, it was torture. I don't give a shit about the hundreds (sure seemed like thousands) people in the fifty studios who worked on this game. I had to ctrl+alt+delete and kill the process.
The last two sequences were obviously rushed, I have no problem with that since most games have that, but being greeted by basically a huge TO BE CONTINUED was utter crap.

The first sequence was guided and cinematic as hell but I liked it a lot! It reminded me of Master and Commander
Just reached Boston and the framerate almost haved as expected (i2500k@4.3Ghz + 570GTX here), it went from steady 60fps to stuttery 40ish. Still playable but damn you Ubi.

I got the black box 5 gig rls... it's damn good, smooth install and no messing around!
If I may say (never played this franchise before) game seems pretty epic. =]
My temp rig with 2nd gen i3 is choking my gpu a little but frames are good.

Thing is, you will get the same result by simply setting everything to Normal from the menu.
Possibly not even everything, I found the one option that does this for me. I think it was even mentioned in this thread before.
Lowering the "Environment Quality" option seems to increase GPU usage and framerate with each step. From 70% at 42FPS on Very High, to 85% and 57-60 FPS on Normal. Oddly enough, there seems to be no change in CPU load at all when changing the options, so I don't quite understand what's happening.
In any case, no other option has any noticeable impact for me, just this one.

I actually have a problem with steam support right now - they're saying that my coupon (50% off AC titles for preordering AC3 Digital Deluxe) expired on November 20. I only bought the game as a preorder on Nov 21. What the hell? Is the coupon itself expiring? Can anyone confirm that (if anyone preordered DD version from steam)?
No, we have no bears on the streets here in Russia.

Why is it a TO BE CONTINUED? Spoiler: | Desmond is dead and Juno will rule the world now. The way they presented the story was pretty bad but there is plenty of closure for Desmond and Connor. I found it quite interesting that Desmond almost turned fully Templar by the end it seems (obviously spouting more assassin bullshit "Oh we will stop her in the end."), choosing the Juno solution to avoid another cycle. |

Well if i put MP settings into the SP.ini after start the game adds the default settings at the bottom of the .ini so i guess we are doing exactly nothing. Maye have to be read only
If it uses [Graphics_DX11] it changes to default settings and leaves extra lines. If you use [Graphics] it creates [Graphics_DX11] with default settings on the bottom.

How do you fix notoriety in the Frontier areas? I'm a bit lost with how some of this stuff works in this iteration. They tell you what to do but then I see no wanted posters in the middle of a forest hehe.
Also, can you only send convoys via the ledger at your home and general shops?

Yup.
Spoiler: |
The ending is really simple actually, and quite excellent I might say. The only unknown thing is what are they going to do with Desmond. There are 2 possibilities:
1) Desmond is actually dead- they will introduce a new hero in AC4. However when you finish the game, he still talks to you introducing the pivots- that means that his conciousness is preserved in the Animus- just like Subject 16's.
2) Desmond was taken over by Juno- they might be a way to free him somehow, but I doubt it.
On a sidenote- remember when in Brotherhood Minerva said to Desmond "she's not who you think she is?" I think she might actually have been talking about Juno, not Lucy.
The entire ending is very well done IMO. The reason behind Desmond's choice is quite clear- when he watched Connor and his life with Haytham, he realized that both Templars and Assassins want the same thing- peace in all things.
Remember that Haytham actually once was an Assassin, but he was recruited by the Templars. That's why he has the hidden blade. The situation is analoguous to Desmond- he too is a master assassin in the present time, but he sees that the Templar way is right as well. Desmond realized that Assassins always fought templars throughout the centuries and knew that the Assassins would prevail, regardless if the Templars were stronger or not. That's why he made a decision to sacrifice his life (probably) and free Juno. For me it was an excellent ending to the Desmond's storyline. |

Loving the Naval Warfare bit. I really wish there was a separate game just based on that part. On the other hand, I really dislike Connor; he seems to have a permastick up his @$$ Preferred Ezio and Altair's characters.

Spoiler: | First, Desmond's story did not end in any way since they left it wide open. I expect a full return for him, either by some magic resurrection or via the animus. Second, "Iuno will now rule the world, there is your ending" is nowhere near enough to justify all that shit we (and Desmond) went through. It was simply a twist with nothing leading to it. Third, Iuno turning bad or whatever you want to call it was handled in a ridiculous way. IN the emails she called humans animals, but that is not how you tell a story in a game. Fourth, there are a lot of plotholes left wide open which I'd need some time to write down. And last, this ending was total lackluster for me since it's not how you end a story (look how they handled Ezio in Revelations and Embers for example, that's how you end it). It's obviously wide open since notjhing is exactly resolved. I was hoping the next series were going to be set in the time of the first civilization (since what's his face mentioned it) and so I was hoping for a proper ending. |
If you do not think the ending is wide open and they left it so for DLCs and future expansion/spin-offs, we differ in opinion strongly. I can literally summarize Desmond's story in this game using a single sentence and you won't miss anything.

Pffff, don't start tempting me (that movie is so awesooooome), ixi! I won't play this until I get rid of the black bars! |
Haha yeah that movie was fantastic (didn't expect it to be that good ) and the game sometimes really manages to recreate the same atmosphere. Can't say much about the gameplay yet, since apparently the first couple of hours are basically an introduction, but I have a good feeling about this one. It's more inspired and surprisingly m+k controls are almost perfect. Let's hope a patch manages to fix most of the graphical/performance-related issues..

All of you complaining about Connor seem to be missing one thing: the character was probably envisioned to connect to the series's audience so ofc he's a whiny emo douche
