Framerate is pretty erratic or irregular or how to describe it, one moment (Vsync disabled.) it runs at over 70 FPS and then you turn a bit and framerate falls below 50 to say nothing about how odd the performance can get in the two city environments.

Tried overclocking the CPU a bit but I didn't see any real gains so I reverted back to the previous stable speed after some testing.

They are still 'fixing' Ghost Recon Future Soldier so eventually they might have this game fixed too but it could take some time. Very Happy

Near the end now, did most of the sidequests, except feathers and almanac pages.

What i liked :
- large world, lots of stuff to do and explore
- naval missions - if Ubi ever makes a 17th - 18th century ship-of-the-line sim, i'm gonna buy it
- Kidd treasure hunt missions
- Desmond missions were a nice diversion.

What i did not like :
- the setting, i'm really not into American history; maybe many people find it interesting and exciting, but i don't;
- the cities are so generic and repetitive, they are nowhere near the greatness and beauty of Jerusalem, Firenze, Venice, Rome or Constantinople
- Connor - it's not his self-righteousness that bothers me, it's that he's such a flat and boring character, i really didn't feel in any way interested or connected to him;
- the story could have been much better with Haytham as the main character; that's my preference, of course, many people probably still like the main story as it is.

Well since im new here i may as well show my setup and results too, i do have an older machine and i don't expect even close to 60 fps in Boston or areas like that, but not having the options to really configure the game when 95% of games allow it really pisses me and obviously alot of other people off.

- 1600x900 (20" monitor's max res)
- Nvidia 550Ti FBP 1GB OC 1000mhz
- Intel Q6600 Quad OC 3.3GHz
- All normal settings
- Average as soon as I first enter Boston: ~16
- Minimum as soon as I first enter Boston: ~13
- Average in opera house: ~60
- Minimum in opera house: ~28
- Average just outside general store ~20
- Minimum just outside general store ~15

Core-by-core CPU usage in Boston is 80% on all 4 cores but GPU is only at 20-25%.

This is compared to AC Revelations where in a similar very crowded area i get only 40% on the first core and 20% on the others with a much higher 50-55% GPU usage and minimum of around 35 fps and average is around 45 fps in city streets on medium gfx settings (3 out of 6) on the 6 settings options and high (3 out 3) on the 3 settings options.
Maybe the engine doesn't recognize Q6X00's, Q8X00's and Q9XX0's properly Laughing

I have no performance issues with AC3 with a 470 SLI setup and a 3.8ghz quad. It's 2 years old. 1080p and max settings with forced 16xAF in inspector.

Both GPU's running at 100% when playing.

Hard to believe this, since 3.8Ghz quad will be bottleneck for 470 SLI. Not to mention game doesnt even use 1 card properly Very Happy

Well E8500 here i clocked to 3.4 + HD6790 and it still slutters like a motherfucking bitch even on normal with vsync off. I'm quite sure its not from lack of video power

Love the "I have no performance issues" posts, without any mentions of settings, resolution, framerate details, etc etc etc Laughing

BTW it's not that I don't absolutely believe you since the game seems to be just too inconsistent between different and similar setups, old and new, fast and slow, GPU>CPU, CPU>GPU, etc
All in all a true piece of great coding on the PC platform, ubishit's reward for it's loyal PC fans Laughing Laughing

6790 is like GTX460 or GTX550ti, so i'm not sure.
I also have my Gigabyte GTX 670 with stock overclock and additionally manually overclocked to +100 core and +400 memory~

Still, the game should be much more optimized.

Toni, i will measure tomorrow, if you want it. The idea is i have no stutters or drops ~

UPD. And it can't drop even lower.

What i do not get is the fluctuations of the GPU load...

Yeah, he shows the area in the beginning as an example... but it always ran fine for me, so it looks like he fixed something else entirely. At least I am not seeing anything in the ini that would do it.

The top line of the .ini is changed from [Graphics_DX11] to [Graphics]. Does that mean it uses a lower DX version?

I think you are right. I compared that ini file in the video with my Revelations one. Seems to have a bunch of similar options. I am guessing all that stuff he copied over is not compatible with the new engine - the value limits being different, for example. It might change some things, but I am thinking only for the worse Smile

Edit:
Newty182 wrote:

It says D3D11 in the gameplay video he shows later, so I don't think so. This is line should be only for identifying options (group), not setting them.

According to the devs it is DX11 only.
