A good fantasy script end's, many times, in a different way that it was intended by the author at first. That's way people with extraordinary fantasy are not, visibly, so good organized in their mind but their works are staying in history. Take Tolkien like an example for this.
What I think is that in the second part they will clear the "mess" you talk about, and that this type of narration is intended, so many options can be open and that is prerequisite for creative minds to work.
no just no. lindiloff is not working on the 2nd part. thank christ. and he's not a good writer.
far from it. there are no clever dialogue snips in the entire movie. there was very little clever writing in lost as well. it was all dry cut and paste. that's it.
and it's not even intellectual. there's nothing smart about prometheus. it was all hipster smart. first year of theology smart. first class if psychology smart. first page of an engineering book smart. that's it. and it doesn't even hide it. it's out in the open.
adding bullshit back story to things that don't even relate in any way shape or form to the actual story? adding little things here and there and then go on all (FATHER!) on us... like for fucks sake. that was supposed to be a twist of some kind. make people gasp. lol. it was evident early on. and david as an android was irrational and incredibly stupid (great acting though). weyland was an incompetent idiot (even in the early years they make him look like he just wants to look smart). the crew was filled with high school flunks. and the captain gets knowledge of things and understands everything and knows what's going on. without any actual hints. it all falls apart. we were wrong. it's all wrong. bull shit. they're going to destroy us. really? what gave that away. oh wait. nothing. but lets make that the main plot now because... yes... THERON CANNOT RUN SIDEWAYS.
bull shit plot devices are bull shit. script was rushed. lindeloff fell asleep writing it. thought he wrote more. then he continue writing. and so on and so forth. and since he's a big shot in hollywierd they accepted a piece of shit script and glossed it over.
movie looks fantastic. if it had a decent script that wasn't filled with holes and religious bull shit that didn't fucking matter (oh you're a christian. well i'm an atheist. boo hoo but lets talk about your faith for no reason because we chose you (inexperienced little barren brat) to come meet some alien beings because we want to hear about how it's all about god and then we'll take it away because you know... we need that twist)
oh i cant get pregnant. gets pregnant anyway.
srsly? No.
and as much as i hate fantasy.
tolkein did some phenomenal things.
and it was cohesive. even the fucker who wrote that religious book with the closet and winterland. a fuckin religious story. deep down inside all god is awesome. yay. and it doesn't read like it.
lindeloff just adds religious bull shit in things for no reason to make it seem deep and thought out. and it never really is. and the worst part is... is that it shows. it really does.
anyone who thinks prometheus is a smart movie needs to be castrated. the iq required to understand that movie is below 30. and if you think the movie is too smart for you at times and you feel challenged well then you have no right to breed. I TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU!

I respect your opinion, but I disagree.
1. Of course it's not intellectual It's a movie for the broad audience and not something like Darren Aronofskys "Pi". I will compare it with pseudoscience like "Erich Anton Paul von Dänikens" writings, that is crap science but excellent fairy tale.
I don't believe in Fairy Tales, religions are tales like this, but Ι like them and are excellent material for entertainment.
2. The script isn't rushed or incoherent. I could recommend the link below, maybe can explain your questions about the story that aren't obvious answers, for you at least.
Spoiler:
3. About Tolkien and fantasy and so, it' a matter of personal opinion , if you like Myths and Mythology and Hans Christian Andersen and Brothers Grimm.I like them and I love mythology, but these are not appeal to every one
Ps. I hope that you can now realize that the last paragraph of your post, about IQ and castrations and so..., is inaccurate and unsuited. And i wait for an apology.
he knew the plot from beginning to end.
lol. wasn't it a year or so before the finale he stated that it's not a purgatory. that it's not heaven. that it's not super religious?
defence force full force eh. also scott and few others said that it's not related to the alien franchise and only weyland is the commong link. hmmm so when they say stuff like that (ie lindeloff) we're to think otherwise. he be trollin.
lol explanation to the plot holes... lol... (well we don't know but this could possibly have happened.)
oh jeez. im watching like 5 minutes of that. and ugh... lol. they're employees. so weyland hires numbskulls. \o/
ugh. 10 minutes in and it hasn't explained a single thing we didn't know.
"can't you just accept that future medicine is pretty advanced" oh that explains EVERYTHING.
the biologist is showing off to the geologist because he wants to be his friend.
srsly? lol.
god this is stupid. "it's alien technology. you wouldn't understand"
"they were running into that room because it had a door that closes"
so do they pick they easy questions to answer? and act like giant assholes when doing so? we're right? you're wrong?
oh wow so a part of the script / idea that didn't make it into the movie... negates the whole space jesus thing? even though half the movie asks you question it and what it's about? How? so if it's not in the movie then it cannot be questioned. but also if it's not in the movie and not in the script it could also be questioned because the movie asks you to question it.
I just... im not going to apologize cause you made me watch a youtube clip of two assholes acting as if they stumbled upon answers, to prometheus, that millions of people didn't know. ffs...
There are some answers in that video but a lot of are of "deus ex machina" kind. Some are his assumptions and only to a few he shows some evidence.
Sorry but even this answers doesn't make Prometheus the best scifi movie eva'. It still overrated flick with pseudo-philosophical tint that really isn't exposed. It doesn't make one ask himself about origin of humans, existence of god or purpose of our existence. It could have been there, it had that potential but Lindelol didn't pulled it off.
He could show the relation between the engineers and humans as creators to their creation and relate it to David who was created by humans. He could create conflict, a feeling in David that humans being his creators are really subpar to him. He could make a plotline in which David kills off the crew that would be parallel to the Aliens killing the Engineers - creations destroying the creators. Children killing their parents. Hell it was even hinted in the movie. It had potential just wasted it.
It all focused on the fact that humans were created by some super advanced alien race that now wants to kill us or evolve us or whatever... Let the viewer ask himself that question lol. It will look DEEP.
It is not the greatest scifi movie out there. It isn't even worthy to kiss the 2001: A Space Odysseys' or Blade Runners' feet.
This reminds me of GW2 fans - claiming you need to play it "correctly" to enjoy it, and you need to be told how that's supposed to work - and you can't just play it like a normal MMO.
Ok, so I need an extra guide to explain the incredibly deep and complex movie known as Prometheus? That movie where the top scientists of the world - hired by a billionaire to explore a remote planetoid - answer the question: "How do you know all these things about engineers and what not?" with "It's what I choose to believe."
I'm not entirely convinced they're not one and the same.
Hey you apeman
You call Trolls the people that have different opinion of yours.
But you said F..k.Of., if memory serves well, to Vurt a fiew days ago, when he sayed that B.G E.E is better than your beloved GOG's B.G vertion.
Who are you?
A corporate founded untouchable troll, that terrorize people with different opinion than yours?
Shame on you...
a half hour youtube explaining the movie by assuming the answers just points how to gullible some prometheus defenders are.
Just what is your opinion on this movie? Pages ago you actually liked the movie, but with each page you trash it more and more.
But that's the special thing with Prometheus. You watch it and you're wondering about some stuff that is happening while you are at it. Then the movie ends. Now the magic happens if you're not some kind of easily entertained derp. You begin to think about what you've just watched. And that's the point where the movie begins to deflate into the steaming pile of silly nonsense it actually is.

I love it just like I love immortals. Prometheus has a fantastic style. Visually it's epic. Direction is decent enough. And editing is nice as well. But the plot sucks dick. Script is awful.
If you ignore it as a part of alien franchise it's a decent sci fi flick.
lol.
questions were answered though. yeah some stuff was vague.
but all in all i wasn't left puzzled. lol.
i didn't like the cliffhanger though.
it was supposed to be part of the cannon. scott said so everyone said so. they just said it was in the same universe. so the cliffhanger felt like a nod to the fans. but i was pleasantly surprised.
Above is 10 pages ago - maybe the plot was indeed weak, but atleast you understood it back then. You where even pleasantly surprised over the ending - and now you say "just ignore it as canon". Its the old Nforce effect = N for negative
I still like it. And I never saw it as a part of the Alien franchise, or at least not as an alien prequel. Perhaps that is what makes all the difference. The haters expected an alien prequel with aliens and shit. Instead we got a philosophical movie wrapped in a scifi shroud that had nothing to do with alien except in that last shot (which i think was the only truly silly scene in the entire movie).
Well if you remove the hints of aliens in the movie then it's a solid movie. Even with plot holes. Could've focused entirely on the engineers. It would've been x times better as a whole.
