According to analysts at Wedbush Morgan, seemingly still unable to lay off the crack pipe, the PlayStation 3 will ship in 2007 if the Xbox 360 fails to ignite the hardware market.
We expect Sony to defer a decision regarding PS3 launch until it is able to assess the likely success of the Xbox 360, and anticipate that Sony will make its decision shortly after the Xbox 360 launch. We do not expect the PS3 until mid 2006, at the earliest, and should Microsoft fail to garner sufficient software support to gain an insurmountable lead, we think that there is a possibility that the PS3 launch will slip into early 2007.
Of course, this stands in stark contrast with wider expectations, set by Sony at The PlayStation meeting last week (albeit off the record) that we’ll see at least a Japanese launch of PlayStation 3 in spring 2006.
Sony is keeping tight-lipped on this as you might expect, though SPOnG cannot help wonder if the analysts quoted above have any tangible concept of what it takes to launch a videogame platform. The entire process is a massive undertaking and cannot be decided upon a whim, as suggested.
From manufacturing to retail, PR to third-party publishing/developing, SPOnG would assert that it’s simply impossible to maintain a transient console launch strategy as Wedbush Morgan describes.

From all your source, you found the most unriable source ever. If Xbox 360 fail, lol. Ppl thought Xbox would fail, well did it? As long as there are games, ppl will buy the console(s) that play it. There's already a lot of preorders.

loo, best post i've seen in ages, only thing that is part true is we won't see the PS3 here in UK untill early 2007 IF they release in Japan early 2006, at least a year after xbox360 and thats the worrying thing for Sony and at least we are not treated as 3rd class games who with Sony always seem to be with consle releases and hardware - just look at the PSP shambles Release date delays here in UK for example

lol as if sony could ever anticipate anything correctly, this is the most stupid bullshit i ve read in weeks.
i m a sony fanboy i admit and i wont buy an xbox360, but if sony decides to push the release to 2007 then i m definitely gettin an x360, and in that case i l also have to reconsider about buying ps3 at all, if too many developers switch over to x360.

the controller for the ps3 is damn ugly, and well xbox live is gonna have basic stuff free which is a huge step it'll create a massive draw for online gamers. If microsoft do the right thing and dont inhibit the 360 the way they did the xbox and launch it with a full media player etc it'll be a huge success i mean u have to mod ur xbox to achieve its full potential and a modded xbox is just so much more than anyother console in terms of what you can do with this. If microsoft do anything they should learn from the modding community and harness the machines true potential without makng you buy stupid dongle addons. Microsoft has done the right thing they got good jap developers to sign up and produce games and tbh i am rooting for M$ because out of the ps2 and the xbox (i have both) i prefer the xbox its just so much more, and the ps2 is so flimsily made. for me a console is more than the games on it nowadays i want something that does it all in one box, i think microsoft are turely realsing this sony have alot of work to do.

Isnt the Xbox 360 coming out in a couple of months? like october, or november or something? In time for christmas?
I thought the PS3 was coming out at the same time or shortly thereafter
When are both due to be released?

I heard Xbox 360 is released worldwide in November 2005 and PS3 is next Spring in Japan with US and Europeans getting the console towards the end of 2006.

A Console is for game , if you want a multimedia just get a decent pc . THis name console become a non sense if it is become multimedia and a console will never be better as a pc for multimedia and there is no use to be . I get a console to get games on it especially games wich have better gameplay on console but never i will use a console as to do other stuffs is pretty stupid ( you will never be able to upgrade a console like you can do for a pc ) .
Anyway for now i will keep my ps 2 , that console have so much tons of good games wich xbox will never have ( this is including jap games wich iam able to play since i know the language )and that means i have time to wait 1 or 2 years before to buy a next gen console ( first by then there wil be lot of games and second i will get it at a better price instead of paying the full price to get the console at the beginning without many games to choose from . Also the prob right now 85 % of games wich are announced on ps 3 and xbox 360 are only sequels and sequels so no rush at all to spend money by now only futur will tell wich of those 2 will be the best to buy ) . Right now xbox 360 have more games announced but it is normal since it is the one wich will come first but i am already sure that ps 3 will have a better choices of titles when it will comes out ( i am just hoping that xbox 360 will have better choices of titles compare to ps 3 , cause definately the choices of good games from xbox compare to ps 2 was really bad even if gfx was better on xbox the ps 2 still had the best games and that is what is the most important to me . )

Ken Kutaragi has praised the PS3 as a super-computer, not as a super-console... are you still gonna get one?

ill be getting the xbox 360 for sure if the ps3 as good and has enough games that are also good then i will buy it as well but if i only buy one its gonna be a 360 for many many reasons , just like if i could only have a ps2 or xbox i would have a xbox.
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

Why do you want a PS3 if you want a mod-friendly? Blu-Ray is probably harder to crack than regular DVD. Plus, the PS3 probably harder to mod than Xbox 360 since Cell is less known. Pirating PS3 is probably tough because of the size of games and the new drive.
