Exactly. Ergo; bad port and he has every right to complain about that without being trolled with "must be ur rig, lolz" bullshit.

So this game is a bad port? I remember the last AC game I played on PC ( Brotherhood I think) was pretty nicely optimized since I had superb FPS on my 3 year old computer.

Really Confused Press E for block/ Parry instead of mouse2? And press E for activate, pickup body, drop weapon, hang, drop, and god knows what else. Hold R for that slow "quick" menu? When in previous game the radial menu is much quicker.

I don't understand what was wrong with the old control scheme. Holding right mouse to switch to high profile for high profile actions is great. I can do the blocking and attack on the same hand, while my left hand are free to press dodge or movements, instead of having to stay still and wait for them to come at me and press E. The whole thing just feels smooth and slick when you can counter attack with only 1 hand.

I haven't got mine yet, so I can't say, but it seems like a split camp - some say it runs like crap, some say it runs fine.

I agree the menu system is very confusing and does not improve the old system, so the need to change it is mysterious. The control scheme however is simpler than before IMO with a gamepad, I can't say anything about M&K since I didn't play the PC version. It was a mistake to assume people play with a gamepad.

How big is this once installed ? Normally i wouldn't care but now i have to because my storage 1TB HDD died a couple of weeks ago and i only have 28 gigs of space left on my SSD

Waiting for the replacement but it's going to be here in about 2 weeks (fucking slow shipping) and i won't be able to resist playing AC3 for that long. Hell i'm paranoid and scared to click on this thread because i fear spoilers like the bubonic plague Very Happy

Ok I never played the previous games with a controller, so that would makes sense. I just assume since they were all AAA console games, they would have much better controls for controllers over M&K.

The game ran fine with steady FPS until I got off the ship in Boston, The framerates started swingin wildly at the port had to lower the video quality settings from max to high, added 10+ frames ...for a while. Then after I met BJ Frank Laughing and got on a horse ...the framerates started to dip again, lowered the settings one more time to normal, stabilized but kept dipping further, not to mention the horrible stuttering from time to time.

cliffs - game is badly optimized.
suffers from memory leaks or some shit.

To put it into context, which are you favorite AC games?

AC 2 and AC Brotherhood. Never decided which, but now that you ask I slightly incline more towards Brotherhood.
Loved AC1 too, but it became repetitive after a while.

wow. then I am worried. because brotherhood and then ac 2 are my favs as well. the first game is the only one that I never finished cause of the repetitiveness and revelations was just too much of the same, decent, but not as good as 2 and brohood.

they have always been cpu bottlenecked at least in my case. I've tried downclocking my cpu and smoothness in crowded areas dropped drastically in ac brohood and revelations.

if its the same game engine, and towns are now more populated since civilization has advanced, CPU limitation might be even higher.

Kaltern has an e8600 only, so its posible that ac 3 wants at least 4 cores for smoothness.

Which gives me further reason to believe it's a bad port. The only thing I could think of as to why Kaltern (and others!) was having a bad time, would have been the dual-core ... but if Sausage (and others!) are having troubles with quads? Then it has to be a dodgy port. Even still; considering games are mostly console ports these days .. it really does pay to invest in a good quad.

the game doenst run that bad, its ok even on my old cpu (q9550,gtx570) everything on max except aa on high @ 1680x1050. problem is simply that it looks like the game simply does not use more then one core...

only problem i encounter after every second or third loading screen it minimizes and i have to kill the process and restart it... mäh

Speaking of recent Ubi games, Future Soldier had several performance problems too if I recall correctly, mostly because of the unoptimized additional dx11 effects. The framerate would drop for no reason and the frequent lag was very annoying.

I'm quite confident that it will run decently here though Razz (the last famous words? Laughing )

Oh look... GTX680 and 7870+ owners "works fine for me, lolz" there's something you don't see every day, honest! Though I have got to admit, not running well on a 6950 is very surprising.

It works for this 6870 owner aswell (not going under 30 fps), so if crossfire would finally work, i should be at solid 60.
So ,,!,,(>.<),,!,, at them, my old cards are doing just fine Very Happy

FYI, game isn't stuttering anymore, just not solid 60 fps, nothing more nothing less.
But i can defo blame it on bad CPU utilisation and not on anything else.

I don't think that's the case. My CPU isn't that much faster than the 2600K, and I have no problems.

I concur, check benchmarks, you should say it the other way around Wink

Actually, just blame crossfire for it, with one card it is running properly (with once again, not solid 60 fps, but no stuttering and shizzle) Razz

Btw, just saw topic on guru3d that even people with a 680 SLI are having problems Laughing

http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4458251&postcount=330

So it's not just AMD dual cards that are having problems Wink

So, just to recap the last couple of pages...

Some people are having issues.

And I am not a troll.

Good stuff. And I totally agree about the CPU thing, although my vid card just doesn't seem to be used anywhere close to what I would expect (can't give a % as CCC doesn't seem to be showing one...)
