@BLaM! : this is why I barely rely on reviews these days. Obviously when they put a 2/10 on a game, I doubt i'd like it, but now these days, even a 5/10 can be great...

I guess the game isn't derp enough for these guys to like it... That's sad but I think that's the way it is... I was pleasantly surprised that even in normal mode, the game isnt that easy, at least harder than most games in normal mode (aka you never die). Which joins what I was saying in my mini review : even the NORMAL mode feels like what you would expect from a normal mode in the 90's. Not too easy, not too hard.

its an awesome game, hit mission 12 out of 20 now and already 14 hrs of playtime, zomg.
it really encourages experimentation, sometimes i would reload the same checkpoint 20 times only to try out different fun ways to deal with the situation, its great...

Has anyone had any problems with point shooting?
I do a point shoot successfully hitting the target but then the game just sort of freezes. the only button that works from there is the start button, so then i go back to a checkpoint and do it again. It freezes after a point shoot kill. Anyone else have this issue?

I read an interesting review bringing up these points:

Failed story telling and cheap/stupid characters (incl 47)

Dumbing of gameplay mechanics. No more open world exploration, sprawling with life, but instead linear. Often the only goal is to take yourself to a door undetected.

Lack of freedom. Maps are heavy directed.

Gameplay design around the instinct system. By pressing one button you see people thru walls and by doing so kills any lust for exploration.

Even on hard you can tell that the game levels and core gameplay were designed with instinct system in mind.

"kill a whole bunch of mean guys with one button ala splinter cell style"

Are these points valid and if so are you guys ok with this!?

Didn't know that Hitman was like GTA and exploration based...

This review is completely silly, it's like saying FIFA 13 sucks because no exploration Very Happy

Yes of course it´s much more suspence and thrilling to know exactly where your enemies are at any given time. Rolling Eyes

It´s like playing hide and seek, where the one goes looking has a map of where everone stands, and the ones hiding has huge signs saying "I´m with stupid". Laughing

just play on highest difficulty without any of that stuff and have fun, they give you the option to do that.
cant blame them for making the standard difficulty what it is considering they have to cater to the masses too if they want to have a chance of making another game.

But even playing the hardest setting it clearly shows that the design was based around the instinct system? Right or wrong?

purist mode is broken for ridiculous ai reasons, but the game is doable without use of instinct, although significantly tougher. imo expert mode (2nd hardest) is the best.
"wallhacking" is available here too, but it depletes the instinct gauge and its more difficult to refill it, making it more something of a special move for difficult situations but not widely used.
overall the reason why this game is far harder than the other hitman games if you dont use instinct, is because enemies quickly see through your disguise if they are the same profession. in older games you could run around and buttfuck them without anything happening so it wasnt too risky walking into a room as long as you had a disguise and weapons holstered.
overall using instinct doesnt make the game numbingly easy, its just necessary if you dont want to keep repeating sections a million times going for a silent assassins rank.
even on normal it provides a decent challenge in comparison to most games nowadays.

but yea, i would rather they did away with instinct mode and instead just make the ai not detect you this easily when youre disguised, especially when you wear one with a mask/helmet; getting discovered with something like that is just ridiculous ai cheating.
