Yeah, the story is probably the best I've seen in a video game in many years. Sadly I can't say the same about the gameplay and some technical aspects of the game and that's why it won't be in my top 5 this year, even though I rated it a solid 8 Smile

@Yuri: It's been a couple of months that I'm like "damn the gameplay didn't impress me at all but I must give this game another chance since apparently the story is awesome" and yet it's still there, taking the dust in a hidden dark corner of my HDD Laughing

It doesn't have much to do with GoT though, unless Martin was involved in the game script.

R.R. Martin didn't write any of it but he was contacted by Cyanide and associated to the project and they got his approval of the script and its adaptation to the story in the books and tv series. The story in the game integrates very well with the main original story, that's part of what makes it so great as well.

Code:
“The entire game was written by Cyanide, including the plot and character dialogue. But I did have creative input at many points during the process,” Martin confirmed.

“What they’re doing is a parallel story to some of the early events in Ice and Fire, so my primary concern was that nothing in the game altered the events in the books,” the author added.

“Games can be a really fun way to interact with a literary world, but I can’t imagine any writer wants to then be shackled to events or decisions made in the game,” he explained.

"Beyond The Wall"

With the downloadable content “Beyond the Wall” for Game of Thrones”, we plunge into the dark past of Mors Westford, during his early years in the Night’s Watch, long before the events of the main story. Offering up to 2 hours of additional gameplay, this new quest brings us at the heart of the Wildlings’ territory, the merciless outcast warriors, sworn enemies of the Night’s Watch. What started like a simple patrol on top of the Wall will quickly become a real frozen hell for Mors and his companions.

Through this new chapter of Game of Thrones, players will learn more about the past, the origin and the scars of Mors “The Butcher” Westford! We offer you to discover now a sneak peek at what awaits you beyond the wall, though these 6 exclusive screenshots directly taken from Mors’ new quest Beyond the Wall.

The DLC “Beyond the Wall” for Game of Thrones is now available on PC world wide and on Xbox LIVE in Europe, for €4.99/£3.99/400 MS points. It will be available on PlayStation Network the weeks to come.

I just checked and it seems so far it's only available from their website for the retail version of the game, Steam will probably get it up shortly as well I suppose. Smile

If it's just another DLC folder it should work with the previous patch.

Am I really the only one that found the combat system in this really good? Neutral Then again everyone seems to hate/dislike the combat system in Gothic 1 and 2...
