just upgraded my pledge, to my dismay, this is blowing the elite project out of the water just for sheer commitment.

I'm thinking about not pledging to Elite as Frontier and David Braben seem to be pretty arrogant and think they can cruise to their pledge total with little to no effort on their part.
As much as I want another Elite game I won't support a developer who isn't passionate about their own project.
Communication and passion is everything to a kickstarter project and I've seen little of either from Frontier and DB.

No I don't think so. Kickstarter takes the money at end date and I guess RSI takes the money immediately. The rewards seem to be the same or very similar tho.

Elite kickstarter is vaporware/cash grab.

I've pledged £50 to Elite, but if they don't step up and make the effort to prove there is the chance of a completed project, then i will be cancelling my pledge nearer to the end time that's a certainty.

I really wish he'd focus on the spacesim part and flesh that out more. All those extra features sound cool on paper but I get the feeling all of them will end up very shallow.

2 more years until the game is done, i'm pretty sure they'll flesh it out during that time.

So guys, I'd like to contribute to this, and in the process get Alpha/Beta access. Which package do you recommend? And what's the difference between standard and "digital"?

All packages (well, $30 game-level and higher) come with Alpha and Beta access.. and the difference between standard and digital is exactly what it says; standard comes in a box and on a disc, digital is download only.

Uhm, on the RSI site, the $35 options (one Digital, one non-Digital) was that the non-Digital came with a physical citizenship card that would be mailed towards xmas (add $5 for shipping).
I'm talking about Early Adopter and Early Adopter (Digital), both $35. No physical disc shipped. Not sure if the kickstarter variants are different.
