and to add to that; your 3.55 PSN games will also need resigning. Also; any 3.55 "fixes" you have for Blu-ray games should also be signed -- it's quicker and easier to just replace the fixed files with the originals, or install the latest updates which is easily done via MultiMan.

How does the multiMAN external USB drive work? Does it need to be formatted in any special way? NTSC ok? Does it need any special folder structure?
Tried looking it up but so many old articles out there, fuck you google.

Got my PS3 back, downgraded and 3.55 CFW on it, so if any other Dutch people need a place to have theirs done, this place is a good one. He does both NAND (100 EUR, I expect this is because of the extra work NAND takes) and NOR (55 EUR, 65 if you want him to put Rogero's 4.30 on it afterwards). Not sure if I can post the link, so PM me if you want to know where

Well downloading Rebug takes a while, so I'll have my very first bit of PS3 CFW fun after dinner
Is there any upside to using an external drive over for example using FTP? I've got a Gigabit network so I'm kind of like...fuck copying shit to a USB drive first (all USB 2.0, no USB 3.0 so speed's quite limited ) and then having to do the reverse on the PS3 afterwards (most games still need to install shit to the internal drive right?). Much rather just stick the CAT6 cable in for a bit, transfer stuff that way.

Personally? Yes, there are two reasons;
1. You can get larger external drives than you can internal. Without hacking apart your case, the largest (and I mean dimensions) drive you fit in the PS3 is 9.5mm, not the standard 12.5mm drive height, and right now that means the largest storage capacity you can get right now is 1TB. External goes up to 2TB (I haven't seen anyone with larger drives getting it working)
2. You won't get anywhere near gigabit speeds over the network, not unless you're extremely lucky. I've got gigabit net and I've never managed to get any faster than 11MB/s, though I've seen SOME reports say they got up to 20MB/s, still no match for a USB2.0 drive.

Well, don't hate me, but the speed seems to be mighty fine, just transferred a 490 meg file in about 10 seconds
Simple file though, gonna give something bigger and more complex a try, see how that goes.

Evens out to an average of about 260 Mb/s (or 32.4 MB/s) so that's not too bad (this was a .iso). Certainly not the full Gigabit, but about the same as USB 2.0 anyway and most likely bottlenecked because of the slow internal drive :/

Why don't you just leave an external drive connected to the PS3, then FTP it over to that? Best of both worlds, surely?

Can do that as well I suppose
Anyway, got Rebug 4.21 on it now, only installed the toolkit and enabled the QA flag beforehand because they recommend to do so. No problems at all, now it's time to put on my pirate hat as well as playing around with Showtime

because else you cant redirect games to dev_bdvd that easily... That's how multi man mounts game.. Obviously a better way could be done but I guess nobody really thought about an alternative since PSJAilbreak in 3.41...
The only alternative is to kinda CEX2DEX with rebug 4.21 patching your eID to 0x82 (DEX) to use the official sony BDEMULATOR, that way you can mount a bdemu disc, and multiman will redirect all your backup to this fake dev_bdvd

hmmm, noticed now that i'm on rogero4.30, from 3.55kmeux, my ps3 fan runs better!... i reaplied the heatsink compound so many times when on 3.55 but couldn't make the difference.
now my ps3 doesn't sound like it's trying to take off when playing a game.. possibly my 3.55kmeux had become corrupted.

Is it hard to do all the bullshit file splitting you need to do to get some of these files onto FAT32 drive?
