114k US retail. That's very very poor. But the publisher says it's a success so likely it's doing quite a bit better on PC digital and it didn't have a particularly expensive budget.

Aren't those just console numbers? XCOM sure isn't a console game.

PC + console retail. Console sales (or their lack of) are very important if you are after a great success.

The update doesn't resolves the most important thing - re-playability, most people who bought the game finished the game, bugs notwithstanding. So this is it? Fixing things that should have been fixed in beta testing?

I think that these numbers consist almost only console retail. It was released on Steam and as so needs it to run, so I bet that 99% copies on PC in US was bought via Steam Store. So I would say that it failed hard on consoles but that's not a surprise. The cover based shooter would sell 10x more Wink

This for me was another enjoyable game that left me thinking, oh boy, they could have, no, should have, done so much more...

Good game, but too short, and I dont feel like replaying it over and over, like the old ones.

Base invasion, it's sorely missed.. would have been a hoot if the ant hive structure would have been used in base defence missions.. and only 1 base.. and... well.. let me just stop. Razz

I enjoyed it though.

So, they nerfed Squad Sight and patched the additional HP for rookies on Classic meaning it will be even more difficult. Fuck them...

Just mod the game to suit your needs. You can adjust starting stats for recruits amongst many, many other things.

Mediocre at best.
Can't be compared with older games, like Silent Storm, that was way better.

I liked it tbh. Especiallt the development of the weapons and the skill system even if it wasnt that deep. In my book its a solid effort and i wouldnt say no to a sequel.

Likewise! As far as beloved and classic games that become "streamlined for n00bs" go... this was way up there with the best of them. It was streamlined yet didn't feel insulting -- I've had an absolute blast and would definitely enjoy a sequel.

Meh a little too expensive for the content it'll provide. But I buy it eventually, just because I enjoyed the Xcom so damn much and I'm planning on another playthrough with Ironman and some balance mods.

Imo the simplified research was the biggest letdown of the game, especially weapons.

Ballistic -> Laser -> Plasma

Only getting better and better no drawbacks and no variations.

Yep - consider if the full game was rated at that price - it would cost something like 200 euro Laughing I bought this game, but I dont think I will even bother to download that dlc.
I would rather pay 7 bucks for a good patch up.

I ended up modding it just so I could get some replay value out of of this game. Tried changing some of the values of the armours, messing around with the hit-points of the enemies, the movement and weapons damages. Enabled second wave features and generally just tinkering about because vanilla was just so plain and somewhat disappointing. Ended up enjoying the game again as it played differently. The DLC content is really weak unfortunately, not justifying it's asking price on Steam. The sad thing is they made the modding of this game somewhat difficult only in order to push out over priced DLC. Given the correct tools, the mod community could really have gone to town with this game far surpassing the official offerings. (game makers know that too, that's why modding is locked down to the executable, which as we know is technically illegal to modify) the engine works well and most importantly it is fun to play, but there's just no depth and end game just felt rushed and anti-climatic.

The unrealistically low sales figures are most likely inaccurate or otherwise mostly based on a particular console platforms sales I would reckon. How many times now have we all seen polls when they don't take online digital PC sales into account. On Steam alone this game had a 100k pre-order target bonus, that would unlock a copy of Civ5 for everyone, which they reached.

Completed game on Normal, later tried to play on Classic but had to abandon due to Cyber Discs constantly teleporting right into the middle of squad Mad

Great if this will fix it.

Tried, started a new game but teleport bug still exists and I think they made it worse Very Happy Before patch aliens teleported in very close proximity to your squad. Now, they teleport to the close proximity of the alien's squads.

While this happens in the fog of war it's annoying but acceptable. But when its happens while your squad is moving into the building to finish the last alien inside and the next turn aliens teleport close to that last alien...

The gameplay toggles at least sound interesting, if at least there are enough interesting options for a second run.

A mod unlocked Second Wave within days of the game's release, I wonder what took them so long to add it officially.

A couple of them weren't working correctly though, the official version sorts that out.
