To be honest I think current phase of the game can better be skipped. ATM it is a PK fest, I guess some like it, but has nothing to do with a zombie survival game. Things that need work: graphical glitches, animations, sounds for character movement, zombie AI, loot spawn. Things missing: balance, 70% of map (more maps promised), vehicles, clan servers. And that is a very incomplete list.
Btw the price for game access (October 31) is $ 19.49. At that date the game will be nowhere near a real beta phase, but perhaps some balance has been created by then. If not this game will be a DOA. I think I wasted money on this one but the QQ-ing on the warz forum is kinda funny. Care bears, casual players and the pk-ers are all complaining. The pk-ers don't want a global inventory char wipe when beta ends (or sooner), they have looted 20+ sniper rifles so far (and much more). And they want don't safe zones, etc.
This looks also promising: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

oh my god got this as a gift from my gf.
Its so shit I put in a refund request on paypal, the company "xolla" then emailed me asking me to close my dispute and they will refund me
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, Yeah I'll just go ahead and close my dispute (which then cant be opened and claimed again) and they will just refund me on their good word.
oh and by good word, this was the actual copy paste response from support
"mac1, Oct 26 02:57 am (YEKT):
We could make a refund, but not it is not possible. We are sorry for wating, if you will close the dispute we can make a refund"
are they fucking serious, what a fucking shambles this popup scam company is.

Your girlfriend was stupid to buy you an unfinished video game. And nowadays, you can't get a refund with digital games if you don't like it. It's not company's fault, it's your girlfriend's.

Sorry to hear that evilmonkey. They have a refund policy btw for people who are unable to play due to technical difficulties. Perhaps the game has matured a bit in a couple of months and not all is a loss.
Anyway a legal live stream: http://www.livestream.com/twzwiki

Its probably been asked to death, but how does this match upto dayZ in terms of completeness?
Get the feeling they are in a similar state atm, but would like to hear from someone who played both

Fairly similar. I enjoy both quite a bit.
This is alpha, so there are still plenty of things not done or not implemented yet. Safe zones do not have guards or the player-made mission system. Vehicles aren't in, nor is infection. It definitely needs a lot of work still, but they've been patching it daily since the alpha launched, and it's getting better and better. Of course, part of my enjoyment comes from WarZ having a new map to explore, while I had already played hundreds of hours on Chernarus before DayZ came out.
