I havent followed the PS3 piracy or custom firmware scene in a while. Are current game backups playable on a custom firmware?

Hmm, not home at the moment, so i can´t check my firmware, but i have the official one before this latest update that came out a few days ago. That being said, is there a guide to easily setup a CFW and start playing backups on my PS3?

Sorry, but if you're on any FW higher than 3.55 then you'll need to buy a hardware flashing kit - and some kind of device to function as a dongle - in order downgrade. Even then.. that's only if you were ever on 3.55 in the first place.

also kiizone 1 HD will be great, wonder if someone will buy and upload it, will be nice as i never played killzone 1, but 2&3 are fucking great!

killzone1 was terrible, it was one of the worst optimized PS2 games. plagued with glitches and incredibly low framerates. even if they made ps3 version perfect, i still wouldn't recommend that game to anyone because it was so bland and boring.

finally had the time to install 4.30 rogero. working fine with psn... played some medal of honor warfail - failed and smiled... then turned the ps3 off again.

Is there a way yet on Rogero 4.30 to load games from an external drive?
I still for the life of me can't figure out how my 300GB internal drive is near full from like 3 games. Boggles the mind. I even deleted all the "data files" from game installs...

Oh, sweet, I have some 1TB drives sitting around, didn't know about the external thing, haha.. I thought I read somewhere that it was severely crippled or something, like only 4 games or something?
Yah, no idea what's going on with the internal drive.. I can't figure it out, without wiping it, and I really don't want to do that.

I havent switched on my PS3 for a while, i have CFW3.55, what should i do to be ready to play the latest games and is it also possible to play on PSN yet with Custom firmware?

Sorry if this has been answered before. But my brother has ordered a e3 nor flasher and now i saw that i need a dongle to get the playstation into service mode for the operation. Is this possible to do with a normal usb stick or do i need to order a special one? If so recommend one!

I just updated to Rogero, thought it went OK, but my BD drive is missing from the XMB. Any thoughts? Should I change the BD Emu option in MM settings (currently on Hermes) to "Standard" or "None"? (I'd normally mess around this with myself, but the PS3 is doing a couple huge updates, so thought I'd ask in here while waiting for that to complete).
Edit: The instructions I followed didn't mention installing 3.55OFW before updating, is that the problem? Should I downgrade then install 3.55 OFW, then run the update? Or is there another solution?
Edit 2: Basic schoolboy type error, there was no disc in the drive, working now. But that creates a new problem - where is my Uncharted 2 disc that I thought was in there, but it's unlikely you guys can help me out with that.

I wanted to know if its safe already to upgrade to CFW 3.55+ since I've heard that Rogeros CFW can brick some old PS3 models.
besides this forum I was out of the loop for a while regarding PS3, can anyone recommend a good site for information regarding the PS3 hacks? (I am not asking for warez sites!!! just reliable information sources)

All three RogerO CFWs (4.21 v104, 4.21 v109 and now 4.30) support MM and its USB-HDD functionality. Also, your 300GB drive shouldn't be anywhere near full after only 3 games... something is seriously wrong there 
There's no such limits for CEX CFW, just stick as many PS3-JB games into the GAMES folder as you can fit <3
