Finished it (Classic mode) in 29hrs and 289 days

Considering how much grief some levels gave me, I can't believe how easy the last one was, in the last room not a single enemy got a shot off

It was a great game though, I'm glad I didn't play much of the originals, otherwise I'd probably have had a different response to it all. It's rare I get to be ignorant of previous games like most gamers today, feelsgoodman

Psi trained soldier and (I think) needs to be wearing psi armor as well. If I understand what you mean correctly.

Any performance tweaks out there? A way to fully disable AA (FXAA), and reduce shadows or something like that?

Always make sure one of your team is packing an Arc Thrower. It's a device that STUNS aliens and allows live capture. You basically want to stun one of each type of alien to get the best research benefits.

You wouldn't have been advised to capture an alien unless you had the ability to research and create an Arc Thrower Neutral

Once you've researched Xenobiology (iirc) you get the opportunity to research the Arc Thrower.

Once you research the Arc Thrower you have to make one at Engineering BUT you also have to have Alien Containment facility (build in Engineering) BUT your priority should be making satellites so no hurry in capturing the alien and so on...

http://www.shacknews.com/article/76481/xcom-enemy-unknown-patch-to-make-easy-easier

Quote:

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is not a particularly easy game, even on the mode that is literally called "Easy." 2K has announced it will address this in an upcoming patch, along with various other bug fixes. It didn't detail exactly how the game will be made easier, but presumably it has something to do with making fewer of the aliens big stupid jerks.

The patch notes (via PC Gamer) also promise fixes to hanging issues during Interceptor sequences and AI alien activity, Abductor roof visibility problems, SHIV inaccessibility, and multiplayer connectivity. You'll also find that the TempleShip doesn't mess up your spawns, and the Snapshot penalty won't apply anymore when Overwatching without moving first.

The post also notes that Firaxis is looking into the issue that causes a defeat screen despite finishing the game, but it's careful to note that this is early and not confirmed to be fixed in this patch. The second patch, with all of those other fixes in tow, hasn't set a date yet.

Here are a list of changes that will be included in the patch.

Major Fixes
• Abductor roof visibility problems resolved

• Interception game hang issues resolved
o If two interceptors are sent after UFO
o If Skyranger is returning from combat after an Interceptor was already deployed

• SHIV inaccessible issues resolved

• AI Alien Activity Hang resolution

• Multiplayer connectivity optimization

Other Fixes
• TempleShip optimization: All Soldiers properly spawn when restarting the mission after clearing the second room of TempleShip

• Snapshot penalty should no longer apply when Overwatching without first moving.

• Easy Difficulty is now easier.

Again, thanks for all the feedback and for being super patient as we prepare each patch for release. We are always monitoring the forums for issues and will post as soon as we get official updates.

Updated:
Adding my reply to the defeat screen issue here so its more visible. This is NOT confirmed to be fixed on the upcoming patch.

Defeat screen after beating game
Firaxis is currently aware and researching this issue. We got a couple save files (thanks to you guys) on Oct 22nd that they're looking at. I'll let you guys know as soon as I hear anything about it.

Easy will be made easier? So the game will essentially play itself then? It's already piss-easy on Normal.

Wait, what? Easy mode is already ludicrously easy ... the only "difficulty" about this game is the random number generator. Normal is what should be called Easy.

In one of the mission on the destroyed UFO there was a suggestion that it would be nice to look inside the UFO main computer and not destroy anything (bring back computer in one peace). I found that computer yet I cant manipulate it. This is ok? Should I only not to break it in order to get job done well, or i have to interact with it (how?)

Gaaaah... just fired up Xenonauts again to take peek how the progress is...

I'll still call it pre-alpha because it's still a mess, even for an alpha. But at least it got everything right what made XCom, well, Xcom Laughing

You automatically bring back stuff after a mission. Flight computers are needed to build certain things. Basically what they are referring to is try not to blow the shit out of the place with grenades and rockets. You can also develop an EMP weapon for your Interceptors that will shoot down a UFO with minimal damage, which gives you a higher chance to salvage stuff like flight computers intact.

I think he is saying that Xenonauts has its own thread and that you should take any discussion of it there, lest we end up with yet another thread derailment.

Finished the game on normal and really had a blast with it! A higher difficulty or ironman mode would frustrate me too much, I'm too attached to my soldiers Sad

This game is really missing a button that disables all rooftops (and other things that obstruct you viewpoint) like Jagged Alliance and other games have.
