Must say that after I've been playing this for a few days now, i still find some annoyances with the players movement mechanics.

You can hardly walk past a corner, without the player "sticking" to the wall aka going into cover.
Actually it's pretty much like that with a lot of things...f.e try to steal from a guy close to a wall, and you often go to lean up of it instead.
It gets annoying after a while.

Then there's the climbing, especially in trees...there are synchronization points in some trees, and i gave up on reaching one of them, because instead of swinging over and grab the next branch, "he" simply jumped straight out in the air and fell all the way down.
There's no fluid movement on objects, roofs and such...if you don't point the camera/player the right way, he'll do the same and simply jump out into nothingness.
It makes sense to have to point in the direction you're going, but due to the movement and camera systems being so jaggy and based on what feels like scripted movement _all the time_, it produces a lot of errors or annoyance.

Honestly, I haven't experienced any of these problems throughout a couple of days playing. User error?

(at least no more so than any previous asscreed game)

Indeed. I've noticed that many people bash some AC games because of the gameplay and some others favour the story aspect mostly. I enjoyed Revelations anyways, I just couldn't enjoy it as much as Brotherhood despite the much better story.

I enjoyed the AC games for what they are, but I've always thought that much more could have been done gameplay-wise. I don't know if it's the hand-holding, the fact that they aren't exactly challenging or the high level of "consolization", but IMO there's a huge potential in these games that hasn't been expressed yet. Just imagine something like Dishonored, in 3rd person view and with an entire city to explore..

I have the doubt of playing this on the PC or PS3... mainly due to the controler... Hated to play AC with keyboard and mouse, as it is a game designed for a controler...

Which should I get? PS3 or PC title?

Yeah, it's sad technology hasn't advanced enough to support gamepads on PC.

I wish they'd release a demo so we can see what exactly they added in the GFX department.

Microtransactions Included in Assassin's Creed 3

Quote:
20 Erudito Pack - $1 USD
50 Erudito Pack - $2
155 Erudito Pack - $5
380 Erudito Pack - $10
925 Erudito Pack - $20

I'm not sure how these items could be applied to the campaign, and I think it's a safe bet that these are multiplayer XP, item, and customization packs, similar to what EA offers for the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

All of theese games have always done their best on a big screen imho.. esp. with the 3d.. the last two look amazing in 3d.

And, for some reason the PC, i still wrestle with it when I want to play on the big screen.. fonts too small, border edges, can't get the hz to match... sure, just a few tweaks, but a few very ANNOYING tweaks, and good luck with the fonts on a 60 inch screen.

So, for me, it's the console.. Sad

Yeah, it's fine.
Graphics are okayish, gameplay is...well, like you remember it from previous games.
I do like the atmosphere a lot in this one.

Hmmm sounds fair enough. The graphic part should be a lot better on PC with the DX11 features. If the gameplay is the same of some of the previous games (please let it be ACII or Brotherhood) then I'm sold Smile Nice to hear about the atmosphere.

Yeah...this is hardly a spoiler, but they did add things like hunting to the game and... well, if you've played Red Dead Redemption, AC 3 somehow got a bit of the RDR feeling in it.
Which is not a bad thing, if you ask me.

But i'm sure the graphical experience will be better on the PC, i just couldn't wait with this one
(And the XBox is just collecting dust, so might as well use it sometimes.,..it has gotten pretty easy after i've installed the x360dock on it )

Anyway how's the combat? I read somewhere they were inspired by Batman. Is it anything like that?

It's more or less unchanged from the other games..
You know, wait for an overhead attack icon, counter and kill.
The combat in batman, as i remember it, is a bit more complex.

Ubisoft’s issued a statement. Here it is: “The Erudito Credits are a new way of unlocking content in ACIII Multiplayer. People who have little time can use Erudito Credits as a shortcut to unlock game items from level 1 to 50 (excluding Prestige levels and relics rewards). This is not mandatory, all items sold in Erudito Credits are also available in Abstergo Credits and can be unlocked through normal progression like previous years.”

So if it's for people with no time, why charge them for it? Surely the point of doing it this way is to help them because they're busy, why do they need money for it? The issue can't be because it's unfair, because it's there for all, even people who aren't busy.

I wonder if it's because they're a bunch of greedy pricks who need to profiteer off of every single little piece of content for those stupid enough to "earn" it this way? Hmm. Possibly.

At the end of the day if people are going to pay it, there going to pay it.
You can't fault the company in offering it as it's easy money for them.
One thing i 'DO' know, i WON'T be paying it Razz

I think this is fine... everyone can earn it, either by playing or by paying. The constant DLC nonsense of late (which you have to buy with cash) is much worse.

Next DLC:

$90 Maestro Pack

“The Maestro Pack is a new way of unlocking content in ACIII Multiplayer. People who have little time can use the Maestro Pack as a shortcut to unlock all the game items including Prestige levels and relics rewards. This is not mandatory, all items given with Maestro Pack are also available in Abstergo Credits and can be unlocked through normal progression like previous years.”

$150 Maestro Assassini

“The Maestro Assassini is a new way of unlocking content in ACIII. People who have little time can use the Maestro Assassini as a shortcut to unlock all the game items including Prestige levels and relics rewards, in the Multiplayer portion of the game, plus it completes the campaign and awards the player with all the achievements. This is not mandatory, all items given with Maestro Assassini are also available in Abstergo Credits and can be unlocked through normal progression like previous years, just like the campaign and consequent achievements.”

One negative thing I'll definitely say regarding the controls in AC3: I know that the horse riding shit has been fucked up since AC2, but it's like every horse went full-on completely retarded in AC3. Try to ride in an even remotely cramped area and there's a good chance that your horse will suddenly insist on ramming its head into a wall the opposite direction from the one you're turning in.

Basically horse riding is total shit in this game. And the relatively (for a shitty console interface) quick and painless weapon wheel has been replaced by a full-screen piece of shit that takes a second to load on the PS3 version. It reminds me a bit of the needless time-wasting bullshit with the "hey look, we can't have a normal talent system, so we'll have you LOOK UP AT THE STARRY SKY" bullshit in Skyrim -- in the sense that it's a gigantic timewasting bastard that does absolutely nothing to enhance the previous system. And now you have to open that fucker up every time you want to call your horse (unless you want to bind your horse to one of the four quickslots, which would be generally kinda dumb).

I think the combat is generally better, and so is the actual control over your character. However, inventory management took a gigantic step backwards. Even managing your convoys and crafting sucks total balls.

Yeah. It's just that the wheel is more awkward, and with all of the hunting mechanics there are a lot more things to have to choose from on the wheel.

I should add that I was pretty suspicious about the naval combat mechanics from the preview videos, but so far they have been a major highlight in AC3. Definitely a huge step up from the shitty tower defense in Rev.

Pretty boring imho. I've only done the ship tutorial so far and never went back to those missions. There really isn't any skill to take down a ship. Just turn broadside to a ship and fire.

There are a few high level redcoats I can not kill in melee. There were a pair of they acrobatic guys that countering didn't work along with button "a" to throw them off their game. Just ran back from them and shot them....works every time.
