Took it all apart, noticed 3 blown capacitors on the powersupply, soldered (my first time ever) 3 new ones and put it back togheter.

Bam! Tv turns on!

Like a boss!!

Total price for components: about $5

Apparently this is a very common problem for ALL LCDs and plasmas over 40". The only exception is Panasonic since they use capacitors that costs a few cents more.

Congrats. Love the feeling of fixing something that you previously thought you couldn't and saving a lot of money in the process. It only gets better if you don't stop, keep going and keep it on a roll. Which brings me to my old Sony receiver. When can you come over?

Feels good man, good job!

My nonexistent knowledge on circuits would have probably made me pull a Timechange with much worse results.

"It’s early morning
The sun comes out
Last night was shaking
And pretty loud
My cat is purring
And scratches my skin
So what is wrong
With another sin
The bitch is hungry
She needs to tell
So give her inches
And feed her well
More days to come
New places to go
I’ve got to leave
It’s time for a show"

Haha! This song just popped into my after reading the first post, the OP is rocking!

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

and often the solutions are that simple, but sending it in or having someone come over to check is very expensive as why people are forced to buy a new one. glad it was something you could fix yourself.

Congratz ^^ I know the feeling when you can be proud of something you did by yourself.

I basically did most of the tiling in the house, and everybody says it's amazing, so I'm proud of it, and I'm like: fuck yeah!

For a theoretical physicist I'm pretty handy Very Happy

i remember when i bought my ACER lcd screen (the one i am using , 22") After less then 6 months, something inside gave up (guess a capacitor aswell, something like that). So i sent it to ACER and 2 weeks later i got it back, fixed. Has been running for over 4 years now, basicly 24/7.
