I seriously doubt it but I'd certainly love to have that. I'd like to see an adventure set on the return of Geralt to Vizima after clearing his name (I guess that would depend on the choices you made in TW2 though). Maybe related to the imminent Nilfgaardian invasion or something?
hey, a witcher mmo could actually be cool. i mean the most important thing you need for an mmo is an interesting world/backdrop, and witcher certainly has that.. and theres room for some really interesting global storylines, with 'sides' you could join/work for that could shift power and influence the game world... yah... if it was f2p and not gayed up with restrictions like that star wars one, id totally be down with a witcher mmo.

lol why? because you have a general dislike and respect for mmo's in general? i mean i certainly agree with that... i just imagine the witcher, but played on a global scale. the chances of it being a great success are low, but i think the potential is exciting.... and as long as it stays in my glorious mind, and doesnt become a reality, i will remain enthusiastic about it, dammit.

I do not hold much respect for MMO's but that's not the reason, it's just that imagining thousands Geralts running around randomly spamming pew pew and potions without any kind of strong narrative structure and choices->consequences system would be quite unpleasant.
Not to mention the EC-rated dialogues for the teen audience.
who says they all have to be witchers? or even any? to be honest, id prefer it if witchers were generally unplayable in the game; as i said, its the world i find to be the most interesting thing, and it would be a FANTASTIC thing to base a game off of.
as for stories, you can build them into the underlying themes of non-human terrorism, political schemes, human supression of non humans, then you have the sorceresses and their schemings...
i think there is enough crap going on in the world that could make for an interesting story... you have to pick which side you want to be on, mechanics for turning into a double agent, learning about the world and the motivations by the missions you undertake.. who knows, maybe even global battle events...
would they fuck it up? most likely... but i really think that the world is big enough and interesting enough that you could tell interesting stories from the point of 'someone' in the middle of it all who ISNT a central character
There's plenty of Witchers in the TV-series and the book, maybe not thousands but obviously they could create thousands if a bigger threat is upon the world (like always in games ). A Witcher game without being able to play the Witchers, nah that wouldnt work well, not even sure i'd like to see a MMO.

Yup a story can be told for a MMO audience in this fantasy world that is not the problem. The Witcher fanbase is just not interested in a MMO unlike the NWN fanbase that consists of a lot of people who played pen and paper RPGs, but the graphics of that upcoming MMO look like shit (personal opinion).
Or Zoltan as a romance option...
(There were actually a number of gay oriented Witcher mods so there's some interest it would seem, come to think of it are there female witchers?)
(Well Geralt had some kid due to that destiny thing they follow, didn't he?)
(Not his actual kid though as they are sterile, plus disease immune.)
(Then again females can become sorcerers with awesome terrible powers and sexual fetishes - or so it seems, they were all quite weird in Witcher 2 -, Triss is apparently quite old herself so I wonder what she actually looks like unless those changes they do are permanent, would be quite the shock for Geralt one day if those wear off.)
(Or not, that grandma - die hag! - was involved a bit so he might be used, unsure what did happen to Shani after all that, they only brought up a little bit in the enhanced Witcher 2 release.)

Just imagine a game where you could build houses, set up shop literally or wander off into the desert and become a nomad and/or pirate, or become a soldier, or become a Jedi, or...wait a minute, we had that
Worked fine in SWG until SOE thought they were being smart and killed it.
Kinda a literal approach. Just theoretically (I don't endorse it), you take the Witcher world and create a story (or stories) in it that can be played by many in many different forms. Meaning you will not be playing Gerald or any other existing main character, but the player will be an important participant in that story.
Just image Witcher universe with WoW gameplay mechanics !
So good !
What why would you want another game like that? Sure the universe and lore would be great the first week or so, but its the gameplay that makes or breaks the game. so after a week or two it would be just like everything else, why would you want that?! :<
Or did I just miss the sarcasm?
Werelds comment make me slap myself for missing swg :<

Been on the fence about giving SWGEMU a go for months, but I'd have to find my disks, takes ages to get it going and then it might still suck and not be as good as the original game
Bit different for the SW universe though, as there's such huge diversity in races and such already. What really made it so good was obviously the brilliant (non-)way to become a Jedi. Everyone *had* to be good at anything but Jedi for the simple fact that you couldn't just pick to become one. And then there's the stuff mentioned above of course
Same thing could be applied to TW, although I personally think it needs a tonne more lore first.
Ecaxt. Just imagine hordes of derps running around as White Wolf clones :/
Typically they would remove all features that could make YOU look anything like him and just end up as generic witcher types doing legwork for every peasant that demands your help!
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
