witcher 2 is the worst game to own on steam due to the crazy large file thing.

Well according to the forum the game switched over to Oxcart a while back and should have only downloaded a 500KB patch, so yay for bugs! Sad

i guess witcher 2 is the one game that you set to 'DO NOT AUTO UPDATE" on steam..

in fact, i should probably do that with witcher 1 before something equally random and stupid happens :/

i prefer setting all games to don't auto update. that way I only get the update after i start up the game.

imagine this happening to someone with limited bandthwith. 16gb is over the monthly limit in some countries lol.

*raises hand*

you're talkin about me there. 80 gb monthly cap. thats almost a fucking quarter gone on a shitty little update ffs.

but witcher 2 always has had a shitty update system. even its own one on gog was a mess whenever i tried to use it. always had a problem refusing to patch upgrades, and i always had to jump through so many hoops to get the thing updated to the latest version Sad never once had a smooth experience with it. such a pity cdpr did such a poor job on that side, given what a fun game it is.

i hope next time they hire someone who actually knows what theyre doing on that side of things Sad

Looks like it might have been a bug, some people got a 500KB patch, others got a 200MB one and others still ended up with 16GB.

earlier in the day yesterday it had downloaded a couple of 0kb updates... you know where it just says updating, immediately finishes, and shows 0kb? yeah... so, probably a bug

Where'd the 5GB figure come from? If that's true, they must be including assets from the base game to use.

I'll be interested to see how many intermediate tools the community has to make to be able to use actual custom content. It seems almost certain that there will be no model import/export tools included given that devs almost always use 3rd party middleware for their models that they can't distribute. Hopefully they'll at least help out with info on file formats and such.

Yeah i hope model import / export tools will be available, it makes all the difference for the modding community. Downloading it now, it's split into 5 files. And yes it must be assets.

Was found on some other site, no idea what it is, maybe the editor?

EDIT: So it's a contest? That clears it up then. Smile

RedKit isnt out until next year, it was confirmed the other day by one of the devs (i believe he is) on the RedKit Beta forum. It's pretty nice, they're building up a wiki, video tutorials etc. Hopefully we'll see import/export for assets too, seems likely.

Nope, it is the "put your face in the upcoming CDP game" contest. The winners' faces will probably be included in Cyberpunk 2077.
