Ahh my favourite childhood movie! Think I feel like watching it again
Hell yeah! My top 3 movies from when I was young are Where eagles dare, Star Wars and Platoon. And each movie starts of with some kind of a airplane as first scene - pretty funny.
And add to that that alot of the movies I really like starts the same way - its getting to a point that if it starts with an airplane, I know it will be good
Well the usual suspects like amelie have been mentioned a million times... Have to think
Re-watched first class btw, really great
Yes, Amelie is amazing (I'm actually going to re watch it soon). Another one I really also liked was Pursuit of Happiness. So those kinds of movies, any language, any country (as long as it has English subs)!
Oh thou sacred spirit of the Hump, enlighten me!
You've surely watched them already, but something like Big Fish, The Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind or Groundhog Day ..also basically all the Pixar movies.
Finding Neverland
About Schmidt
most Wes Anderson films
Also, you might like A Very Long Engagement, which Jean Pierre Jeunet made after Amelie. It stars Audrey Tautou again and although it contains some war violence, its central love story is uplifting and not saccharine sweet like a lot of hollywood offerings.
i had a general dislike towards Jake G before this movie. kinda warmed up to him right now. that scene when he talked with his father was very good.
captivating movie as well. although it should have ended at the freeze frame.

Definitely the weakest of the four movies, but still very much decent, although the scares were definitely weaker than in the previous flicks. But then again I'm the only guy who likes PA movies here, so
first abrafail lincoln vampire hunter, now ice yawn 4
ice age continental drift 6/10
theyre clearly well out of ideas. yeah some good parts, and i think this would have made a great 30 minute shortfilm, but there were too many slow boring bits, or flat out annoying bits, and.. yeah ill say it... the addition of the teenage daughter was fucking terrible, i hated every bit she was in, she dragged it down.
this DID, however, make me realise how good (and how much i enjoyed) the third film.. i actually think ill grab that in 1080, because THAT was a fun adventure film.
ice age 4 just felt tired and drawn out. i laughed a couple of times, but this is easily the worst of the franchise. atleast it was a bit better than abe lincoln though.
please please PLEASE dont let the new spiderman movie be another letdown.. im beggin to ya, movie gods, PLEASE.. i need something decent in this mess of recent mediocrity!
Jep and its right - I was amazed when the first movie ended, finally something actually happens, and it ends!?
See, that is entirely your fault. The ending of the first one (oooh, demon face launching at the screen, "spooky" ) was easily the worst scene of the entire movie. Jump scares are the lowest form of horror.

Meh I wanted to download the bluray - but then I remembered I had already seen it in the cinemas - thats a pretty bad sign (and no not of the coming amnesia )

i love films like this that take a simple concept and explore it thoroughly.
in this, a writer writes about his dream girl and one day she suddenly appears in his apartment.
from that comes an exploration of a person vs. the idea of a person, objectification, ownership of a person, having godlike power over another person and ethics of all that.
Saw this in theaters. Experience was semi ruined by some little punk chewing jawbreakers - which I almost killed.
But the movie was quite good with excellent performances, with Tom Hardy and Guy Pearce being the standouts. The plot was pretty straightforward - but it was very much a character driven piece.
It had the usual Hillcoat violence and unpleasant stuff - but I find it appropriate to the theme of the film.
