"Are You Gonna Go My Way" Lenny Kravitz
Probably the only song I play here and there from the list, it's great fun. Along with Song 2.

"Sweet Home Alabama"
Has that legendary riff.

"Where is My Mind?" Pixies
"Slither" Velvet Revolver

Also played these, the rest are a blank.

The game is now on Steam.
It's not released yet, but anyone who preorders get access to the beta.
Steam also offers a demo, but to anyone who wants to try it : remember that you need the Real-Tone Cable to play the game. You either get it with the game or by buying it separately, so obviously the demo is not very useful for newcomers.

I also saw a comment about Amazon preorders coming with 6 songs :
3 Doors Down – Kryptonite
B.B. King – The Thrill is Gone
Megadeth – Hangar 18
Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks
Pat Benatar – Hit Me With Your Best Shot
T-Rex – 20th Century Boy

Had they only made this game 4 years ago - I know not a single person that still finds guitarhero/rockband remotely fun - compared to plastic guitar battles in the middle of parties etc 3-4 years ago.
Hope it was cheap for them to make, because that huge market is now a tiny niche compared. I dig most the tracks in this one tho.

There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Don't go for the CloneDVD, go for the Unlocked version instead.

The game has had some pretty good sales, I'm actually surprised at how well it's been doing considering how Ubisoft does very little to market the game. It easily passed 1 million sold, they should really consider actually advertising the game one day.

Actually the game got some advertising before its release in US. Some videos with amateurs learning to play, short spots, FreddieW. But later they somehow forfeit the marketing for the rest of the world.

And you still need a guitar , i'd try the game just to see how accurate is to the real guitar play and how the game comports , but i still prefer normal guitar play without a game Laughing
And about the cable... well there's not other way to connect a guitar to your PC without "imput" delay , what you will play will show up 1-2 sec latter with a standard jack connection , and you need some kind of jack>usb cuz the x360 and ps3 don't have a jack slot

I don't know, since everyone is tired of the guitar hero/rock band fake-guitar stuff, I'd say this game is coming out in a good time... Could perhaps have been released 2 years ago optimally speaking, but I don't see even this year as being a bad year. I mean, it is as you say, most people I know as well are tired of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band stuff.

This is after all different from Rock Band... I don't think this game has ever been the same as Rock Band in terms of the audience it's after.

You wouldn't really play this game on a party the same way you would Rock Band because if you're going to play this game, everyone would have to have put in some time prior to it, else it's no fun. The thing with Rock Band was that anyone could play, no matter how little you had played, you could still pick it up and have a good time at a party.

But with this game it doesn't really work that way unless you have good guitarists/experienced Rocksmith players with you, and even then you'll still need a bass and a guitar + two of those cables.

So this game has a niche market regardless, at least right now it does. Hopefully it'll grow though, because this game has surprised me at how fast I can learn songs, despite myself being a complete amateur (but as I said, I am not using only this game to learn). This is certainly a large step forward when it comes to guitar learning tools. I hope developers (not just game developers) see the potential in this and refines it much more with more products.

I think it is like comparing CoD to ArmA 2 or something. They tried the whole simulator stuff in RB3 too, but I don't think it caught on too well. The ones playing the games wasn't really interested learning guitar, they wanted to "feel" like they could play like a rock star.

Anyhow, I like this idea as a learning tool. I did try a preview version before and it had some really bad lag? How is the final version on that part?

The lag can be caused by your guitar as well , if you got a cheap guitar (50-100$) with not so great pickups there might be some lag from that too ( weak freq is harder to process by a digital processor in it this case for a PC , with a digital processor you'll get weird freq fluctuations and with a PC you'll get lag) a strong nice freq is easier to process and will sound a lot better (with a real amp/processor) i don't know about the quality of the guitar that comes with the game though (i think there's a version that come with a guitar too , i might be wrong on this Very Happy )

It was many years ago so I'm not super sure what I payed but I think it was around €250-290 (could be less even, I really don't remember, I just know it wasn't more than that at least Razz), it's a Squire Telecaster (not my pic, but it looks almost the same):

Yeah, that's a good way of comparing the two! Smile

I have no lag that I can feel at all, and if there is any lag for me, it's so small that I can't tell. That said, I've read on the official rocksmith forums that many do have lag, some have it because they're running audio through HDMI, and said that running it through an external source helps better (I'm running audio through a subwoofer then in to my computer, logitech), while others have lag despite doing that. Not sure what could be causing it for those people or if they're a majority or minority even but I seem (for once) to be one of the lucky people with this game.

No crashes, no glitches, no bugs, no lag, everything just works as intended so far. If you had lag in the preview, chances are you'll have it now to, though I'd check the rocksmith forums if I were you, maybe they've fixed lag issues? Smile

Well I tried the thing setup already, so I have no clue what type of equipment they had there. It was the Ps3 version if I remember correctly. But it was a preview build too, so I suspect the lag would be something they would really try to solve before launch
