The original lore of Cyrodiil (if you've read the books) is super cool, it's actually a jungle area. Such a missed opportunity to finally get a jungle area in a TES game and it would feel super fresh.
I can't think of anything worse. I think the game benefits hugely from the medieval / Nordic and Viking aesthetics
"oh no, someone smiled in a thumbnail, i really can't go to YT anymore!" okkkkkkkkkkkk
But it's not a smile. It's like the slimey version of a smile you'd get from used car salesman. You must know it's a marketing tactic used by Youtubers to generate clicks. As blackeyedboy stated:

obnoxiously fake smiling faces
Nobody wants to do it, they're doing it because they were told to. That alone would annoy most people. For me it's the expressions. I think it's hardcoded into my DNA to be repulsed by them. I really, really want to punch the screen when I see them.

...and that's why i compared it to commercials. it's something you just filter out, like who the fuck gets triggered by it unless you're trying to buy into it, you just don't.
"Are they trying to sell me a product, by exaggerating!?!? MY GOD i am SOOO ANGRYYYYY!"
like, who doesn't know it's fake??? of course it is, and there's no reason to give a shit. yes, maybe keep children away from it until they learn what it is and why, etc. a grown up should be able to handle a smile, fake or not. do you think the cashier in the grocery store gives you a genuine smile?
A cashier isn't an annoying cunt clogging up the internet or trying to sell me something using deceptive tactics
And recognising it's fake doesn't make it any less annoying
It's an interesting argument coming from the person who wants to change a tree type when 99.9999% of people aren't going to notice or care. Clearly we care about different things at different degrees.
Pretty sure you posted some preview or review with MrCuckyPlays soyfacing on the thumbnail, come on.
But if you really are not posting more then keep it that way

I did say I try to avoid but you might be right about the odd 1 or 2 historically

who's forcing you to watch a certain youtube channel, who's forcing you to buy groceries? It's the same principle, it's "Sir, you're a valued customer, look at my smile, i care, please come again!"

It's part of cultural and human behavior. Even if you greet a stranger, you smile. Even if its not entirely genuine. It's expected, or you're kind of void of how human interactions works. Yes it works the same on youtube, in commercials, if you buy a car etc etc

My main Skyrim mods have 6m unique downloads, and 17m in total downloads (yes, people install these games again and again, and they come back).. but i guess people don't care about trees right (which is the main thing you will see when outside). Sure.
why so fucking triggered that you have to make it personal? I'd never take a piss on your game etc? lol, it's about a fake smile in a thumbnail, again, how in the hell can you get so angry about something so miniscule?

wow, i could not care less about fucking thumbnails
To be fair, I can usually judge regularly if I would like a channel off the thumbnail (if its that type of thumbnail).
It's not that they have that as the thumbnail clickbait/trend as why. It's the ones who use it regularly make content in styles I don't enjoy much.
Now it is not a crystal ball level of prediction. But if they have those types of thumbnails, It's pretty predictive if I would like their channel content style overall. I might enjoy a handful of their videos out of 100's but not enough to want them in my feed after watching those few videos.
The quickest way to get "don't recommend channel" clicked by me is if half the thumbnail has their photoshopped filtered face on it doing some exaggerated expression, or it has red circles around things, or despite it not being an AI thumbnail it looks like it.
Again its not the thumbnail itself, its 90%+ of the time if it has those, I don't enjoy the videos style of the video itself.
Sure it might be judging a book by its cover, but I know from experience for an analogy if a book has a long haired shirtless man on a horse holding a woman on it, it's a genre and writing style I know I would not like, without reading it
Of course you cant. They do it to bring in a audience as people are dumb and click solely because of stupid faces. Had that not been the case then no one, or at least few would make those retarded faces.

It's not. This is a terrible analogy. And they're literally plastered on any site a Youtube video is embedded on, which is most sites. How would we see them so much otherwise? I don't visit Youtube.

That's an overhaul that makes them look better than shitty vanilla trees, which is why I use it, but ask people the difference between a pine and a cedar/cypress/hemlock/whatever tree, particularly with video game models, and maybe a handful will be able to tell you. Not sure how it's personal to point that out or why you're bringing up VFO.

That probably sums it up now that I think about it. You did it in one word.

nope, i'm the person asking why you're triggered by a face, the only trigger i have here is why you're triggered Now, i'm not the greatest fan of this particular youtuber, he's pretty similar to that Stephen-something guy. Pretty average, usually nothing really new, usually super exaggerated with "Insane!" etc in the topic (this is more tedious than smiling faces in thumbnails by far imo).
You're saying people don't care about what kind of tree models it is, they absolutely do, and it's not just about how they look (quality of texture or shape), it's very tone setting for the game world itself. Pines here derives pretty far from the original theme, it will have an entirely new feel because of it. One that i personally don't care for coming from Skyrim, this isn't supposed to be that type of more rugged region at all.
Of course you cant. They do it to bring in a audience as people are dumb and click solely because of stupid faces. Had that not been the case then no one, or at least few would make those retarded faces.
Again, this is basic human interaction tactics, they're going by research and by tried methods, most people like to see a face. In most "let's play" you'll have a small square showing the dude/gal playing.
You seem very focused on if you like the person's looks. This isn't really the idea though, he/she isn't there to try to make you horny. It's just there to show a human because we can relate to it better, we like to see expressions etc. And yes, i am going with most people i've understood you don't relate at all with it.
Then if you search your username for the term 'soy', there are references to posts where you reference soyboys.
Now that face is absolutely synonymous with the term, and you use it in a derogatory way, so it feels like maybe you're being a little disingenuous here.
The two examples I posted earlier highlight the difference between a smiling expression (which could be argued it's there to relate to the viewer), then you have some fuckwit pulling an obvious stupid face. The 2nd one is the issue. They aren't the same thing.
Is being annoyed at anything being 'triggered' now?
Ironically, the people complaining about other people getting triggered are the ones that actually seem the most triggered.
It's not even just the punchable faces, it's the headers, the text on the thumbnails ("Best "X" of 2024????" "You won't believe what happens next!" "This AI Tool Makes EYE CATCHING titles for your Youtube Thumbnails!") It's just a combination of all the above, personified by the punchable faces.

why are we talking about soy? i've not mentioned it here, of course i've used the term. how does it relate to anything i've said here, e.g not caring about faces in thumbnails? could i get annoyed by a photo of a dev team and they all look like soyboys? sure. in a thumbnail? not likely because its just nothing i stay and examine, which is something you seem to do, for whatever reason. again, i just filter it out, like commercials, it means nothing to me.
saying you're not triggered just "annoyed", yes, works every time doesn't it who's to prove someone is right or wrong here.
why so fucking triggered that you have to make it personal?
Bit ironic, isn't it.
Anyway, Vurt doesn't care about thumbnails because most of his fav anti-woke channels on Youtube use enormous capslock titles with red and yellow text how gaming and hollywood became w0kE and society is degrading and no men are left in the world except some fucking 40+ year old basement dwellers shouting into a piracy forum.
Is being annoyed at anything being 'triggered' now?
I assume so, I get called that nearly daily on here
Disagreeing, stating opposing opinions after someone gives theirs, or engaging with the statements they publicly made in any way other than agreeing is "being triggered."
For as much as we make fun of ResetEra here, it seems to state opinions not held by a poster in a thread they are in, or disagreeing with them and stating why you do, gets you blanket labeled as triggered.
It's easier to ad hominem you as irrationally emotionally responding. Then reply to the content of what you respond with. Because if they slap triggered on it, it implies neatly and cleanly no reason to reply to someone, they labeled as rage posting.
Maybe the only way they could see themselves posting like that is if they were triggered to do so. But I'm/we are not them. The day a youtube thumbnail triggers me, is the day I need to cancel my internet service Going "That thumbnail is desperately going for lowest common denominator and not the type of creators I want to encourage to do more by clicking it" isn't being triggered.
When I had to attend PAX, there was this pre-meet where all devs talked about things, raised questions etc. The first thing we all had to do was introduce ourselves, tell everyone our preferred pronouns and anything that triggers us.
It felt so infantile and you could tell numerous people weren't loving it. First time and hopefully the last time I have to do that
In hindsight, 'Youtube thumbnails' might have gotten a laugh
Is being annoyed at anything being 'triggered' now?
I think that came from me saying in my post that it triggered me. I shouldn't have used the word triggered because it was an exaggeration, maybe if I'd said annoyed it would have been more accurate so that's kind of on me.
What I think is funny though is that the only triggered that I can see is the multi post rant from Vurt arguing against it. Triggered by other people being triggered

Feel h(v)urt yet?
what is ironic?
I don't care about thumbnails so why would i care about big letter thumbnails.
It's good you think gaming is in a good place. Harry siding with the MoDeRn Audience

You must mistake me for someone else if you talk about how i like thumbnails based in attraction level???
Pretty sure he didn't mean me if he meant someone else.
I myself could care less if they had thumbnails at all. All they really help me with is what I know I don't want to watch. I cannot say a thumbnail has ever compelled me to watch a video based on it.
A thumbnail with the theme on point is nice, but i do not need a face plastered on it. It doesn't deter me if it's something im interested in of course. A lot of the crap posted here is shit i don't care about though as most is just Headshot posting retarded shills who lies through their teeth. Like why would anyone watch that shit?
