Hehe

So I just bought the thing, after having spent all last night on the ISOdemo.
I went into the "every turn hang issue" again, the only fix for this is to reload the autosave done while in the base to reroll everything.
Apart of this I have not encounter so much bugs nor fire through wall thingies.

And as I am stupid I have SHIFT+DEL the yarrr version and now I must wait 2 hours of steam download to play it...
Anyway great game so far so you know "If you like the game ..." Wink

So satellites are the most important thing to start with right ?
Because I ran out of money almost every time whereas I finished all the research available so I wasn't able to build anything and lost 3 country very fast.

add: so tried several times and apparantly the game will ALWAYS lock, when i try to heal that guy at that position lol. Np when i move him elsewhere and then heal.

add2 : and 2 turns later it hangs on another guy ...

If you reload this tactical session you will encounter this bug certainly each time, reloading @ the base will reroll enemies and location and it will be OK.

yeah it keeps locking now every turn, so no choice then to restart the whole thing from base. Sucks, i really kicked the aliens ass in that mission hehe.

Apparantly the patch helps out with this soft lock. Not that I've noticed it myself.

Yes satellites calms a whole region (not just the country that gets it) down on its own I believe, plus brings in extra funds to allow you to build more stuff later on. I generally start after the intro mission by building a satellite and start planning a satellite link (which needs a workshop and a power generator). To allow for a workshop asap make sure to pick the +4 engineers option on your first choice out of 3 abduction missions.

Also make sure to make use of the grey market. Especially damaged UFO components are good early game income (plus I sell quite a few sectoid bodies).

i've gotten that bug where the game shits the bed a couple times now. first time was pre-patch, second time after patch. its happened again since then, but it didn't stick? sorta. it just took a little while before the alien started doing something. o_O

I just beat the game. The ending was pretty lame, but it seems likely that there will be a DLC or sequel that continues the story.

By locking you are referring to a situation when a ground grid disappears and you can't move the soldiers ? This happened to me twice and both times I was able to fix it by 'TAB'-ing to another soldier.

I got a feeling that when you start in one game session a new play with tutorial and then start a new game you have somehow lower difficulty. I have started a game with tutorial in classic then restarted to choose my own base and the tacitcal part was a walk in a park I lost one soldier in 30 missions. Now I created new game (after restarting the game) in classic and I'm getting my ass served.
Anyone noticed something similiar?

Glad I bought this. Had a couple of bugs but nothing major. Started off on normal and was doing great, then I started facing Muton Berserkers and Sectoid commanders and got my arse handed to me. If one more country leaves the project it's game over for me, though I didn't realise how important satellites were until a few missions ago. Really enjoying it though, probably as much as I did the original game though I'd like the missing stuff to be added such as base assaults and multiple bases.

Sid Meier (Support/Psy)
Ken Levine (Sniper)
Joe Kelly (Assault)
Otto Zander (Heavy)

Apparently they are all OP and they disable achievements. Be warned.

How the hell do i use the gallop chamber/ethereal device?
The objective still says "increase our soldier's psionic strenth" but i already have three of my guys at psionic level 3/3.

Try to put one of them in the Psi-Armor and see if that helps.

So just started my second playthough and I already having a blast thanks to the opening of the "second wave" options via mod.
New game is still classic diff, but this time playing marathon speed (wouldnt play civ any other way either) and now the soldiers have different stats and level up and that just rocks! Now a reason to pull up some more troopers, to see if they are a rising star.
Just a tip, I colourise my men so yellow is heavy, red is assault, white is support and black is sniper - it makes it alot easier to see on the field at a glance (oh and I am not talking about race, altough that could be a way also Smile ).

Second wave:

Option Description
Damage Roulette Weapons have a much wider range of damage.
Total Loss Lose all gear from soldiers who die in combat.
Red Fog Any wounds taken in combat will degrade a soldier's stats for that mission.
Hidden Potential Rookies will have random starting stats. (cool and works for what ive seen)
Results Driven As a soldier is promoted, their stats will increase randomly. (cool and works for what ive seen)
New Economy A country will offer less funding as its panic increases.
War Weariness Overall funding levels drop inexorably with every month that passes.
High Stakes The rewards granted for stopping alien abductions are randomized.
Diminishing Returns The cost of satellites increases with every one that is built.
E-115 Elerium stores will degrade over time.
The Blitz The aliens will target a larger number of cities every time they launch an abduction attack.
Absolutely Critical A flanking shot will guarantee a critical hit. (was on the fence with this one)
More Than Human The psionic gift is extremely rare.
The Greater Good The secret of psionics can only be learned by interrogating a psionic alien.
Marathon The game takes considerably longer to complete. (cool and works for what ive seen)
Alternate Sources The power requirements of all facilities are increased.

My install is hanging on xcomgame\movies\1080_CIN_TP10_deviceretreived_loc.bik when installing off the first dvd. Any ideas what could be causing this? I deleted the directory and reinstalled 5 times, same result. It just hangs indefinitely!
