can you guys give me a game that you think the next resident evil should look like?

I agree that the controls in the older games wouldn't cut it today. But what I think most people want with RE, are that they return to be horror instead of action. Just slow the game down a little and create some tension not just explosion. Actually the game that was released to 3DS, RE - Revelation, was headed toward the right direction....but then we got RE6....

people dont know what they want, back when re3 and code veronica were released people started getting tired of the controls and cried about how capcom needs to change the games.
re4 came out, everybody has having a blast with it, 2-3 years later suddenly re4 apparently ruined the re series and the same people from before wanted the old controls back.
what the fuck?

re5 comes out, everybody complains about how it is too action oriented and not re anymore.

re6 comes out, everybody praises re5 for apparently being a proper re game, while re6 doesnt have anything to do with re.

i am getting tired of this bullshit, re6 may be too action oriented, but not alot more than re5, also with leons and especially adas campaign it is actually closer to the old re than re5 was.
sure you can say re6 sucks, but you cant say its worse than 5, thats bs.

Most people I talked to think Re4 are the prime-game of the serie. I also think that game had a good balance between horror and action. I do agree with that Re6 isn't very far from Re5, but some things they did make worse from re5 like the camera, not sure why they put it so close to the character in Re6. While Leons and Adas are chapters are good, I think Chris and Jakes are really bad. As I said before I think they should had spent those hours to perfect the Leons chapter instead. I just feel this game wants to be everything but also makes everything feel lackluster as a trade off.

I wouldn't mind if they made Re6 more slow, like Leons and Adas chapters and then make Re7 more action based on Chris. They could alter between the styles every 2nd game?

i agree the game is a mess, but atleast this time capcom experimented with different aspects.
yes, they tried to please everyone by putting all these different campaigns into the game, but i can respect that more than the simple carbon copy of 4 with worse gameplay that re5 was.
for me, 2 and 4 will always be the best re games of their respective eras, but i still did have a shitload of fun in re6 coop and i enjoyed the little nods to the old games here and there.

I see that capcom tried hard with this game, but it seem like they're not skilled enough to do it. I think they had millions of ideas from other games they played and tried to cramp it all down in one game. I mean, I see little of everything in Re6, from GoW too Uncharted. Only the parts are just bad versions of the earliers.

While yes, the coop was fun and always will be in my book. I think Re6 are one a reason there's a expression like "too many cooks in the kitchen make a bad soup".

the problem is, capcom doesnt have any creative designers anymore.
mikami, kamiya and the likes all left (thanks to them, atleast we got some really great platinum games titles). now capcom is creating their games methodically and re6´s several campaigns are basically a focus group test, based on which they will create their next game.
now, the general consensus among gamers is obviously that the leon campaign is easily the best one. i dunno how this is with casual gamers though, if the masses suddenly prefer chris´campaign, re7 will be a complete shooter.

You should give a little credit to RE REmake as well. It was really well done.Shame it end up as GameCube exclusive tho. Smile

I liked how Capcom experimented with The Lost in Nightmares dlc in RE5 - really nice atmosphere with RE5 controls/camera and less action. Do something similar with RE7 and add move + shoot to be a bit modern game (lol ) and we have a deal, Capcom. Very Happy

they should combine re1+2 with the newer controls.
first part of the game slower and more ambient, a few zombies here and there with extremely scarce ammo where running away and evading is mostly the best option.
later on in a re2-like lab setting they can introduce more action and ammo but never in the amounts of re5 and 6.

and yea, REmake is one of the very few real game remakes where everything was built from ground up, i still have to play it.

The RE1-remake for GC still looks very good in the graphic departments too. At times it is hard to believe it actually is a GC-game. The GC really had underestimated hardware for its time.

Otherwise I agree with what you say, if they could make ammo harder to come by, and also make the zombies dangerous in close combat I think it would make the games so much better. As it is now, you can just roundhouse kick the zombie if he comes nearby. In Re4 you had that option too, but it was scary because they could still overwhelm and kill you if you got more then one right up in your face...in 5 and 6, you can just hammer away and they all will die by your hands.

yep, when you have pre-rendered 2d backgrounds, you can put all the resources into the character and enemy models.
this is the reason why i dont mind the gfx of re and ff games from the psx era.

i actually like the stamina system they have in re6, but it would have to be limited alot more,
maybe so you can make a desperate melee attack once in a while as last resort to get out of a bad situation, but not for constant use.

I don't think the remake had 2d backgrounds, it was all rendered in 3D like Codename Veronica was on Ps2. Still though, it had fixed cameras and worked pretty much like the earlier 2d backgrounds.

The stamina system was a good idea, but it was poorly executed to a point where you nearly didn't notice it. It could be used in a really good way, like making it harder to aim if you had been running for a longer time...or as you say, make you run out of gas faster in close combat. It would make things more tense.

remake definitely has pre-rendered backgrounds like the psx games:

that amount of detail is hardly possible in real time even on current gen.

I don't think even current spec PCs could handle that kind of detail whilst rendering in realtime. Static, prerendered, images like that ^^ are why the GC versions of RE0/RE1 look so outstanding, it's just a shame we never got RE2/RE3 treatment Sad

re2 has a possibility of getting a remake too according to capcom, although they arent promising anything yet.

if it really happens, i hope they make it along the lines of REmake with pre-rendered bg in hd.

Finally got it working on 3.55 and I have to say that this is the worst RE game.
It's just stupid, Helena can not die, Boss fights are terrible and sometimes it's just to hard because it's just chaotic in some rooms with a lot of zombies.

The airplane part is just stupid, they crashed with the plane in met with the other protagonists....in a BIG CITY!

a bit off topic, but yesterday me and my sister decided to watch the expendables 2 and it was soo funny because we kept seeing things from resident evil in there...

like they drive around on these airboats like in RE5
then bill the kid (liam hemsworth) with his m107 sniper rifle gives support like Piers from re6!
vam damme always wearing sunglasses and staying calm like wesker
eastern european setting and mercenary forces which even have a tank like edonia in re6
asian female helping out like ada
trying to load the stuff on an airplane at the end like ouroboros missiles from re5

yeah maybe we played too much resident evil but it was hilarious Smile

Just started RE6 with Leon on Veteran, is it a bug in the game that you can start at any stage in the chapter in the beginning? Isn't this weird? So basically you can start with every final stage of each chapter and complete it (why one would do this would be meaningless as you would not understand the storyline, but still...).
How do these upgrade points work? Let's say you finish a chapter, then redo some or all stages from that chapter you will still get more points?
