Finished it. Took 16 hours according to Steam, but for some reason it didn't count a lot of hours (7). So the "speedy Neon's completionist playthrough" ( Laughing ) took me around 23 hours, which is EXCEPTIONAL in this day and age. I played on "Very Hard" difficulty.

One of the proudest achievements of my gaming life:

The time differs between the two achievements because my VPN lost connection, but thankfully it reconnected, otherwise I would rage hard if I didn't get it. Laughing I know, I know, it's just an achievement, but still.

Screens with stats after every mission (be wary of spoilers, also I got the good ending)

 Spoiler:

A fantastic game, an exceptional experience. I'm immediately going for a second playthrough now to FINALLY kill somebody and try out different powers and collect the paintings I didn't get. Very Happy

GOTY of 2012 without a doubt.

Just completed my first play through on Very Hard, with no kills and no alerts (Ghost and Shadow achievements). By the way, just to warn anyone that might be trying for those, you can't go back and retroactively beat a mission perfectly to get those two particular achievements - you have to play the game ALL the way through again from the mission you didn't get them on, until the end. Had to replay the last three levels due to that. When all was said and done, took me 18 hours or so due to the copious trial and error involved.

What a fucking phenomenal title! Extremely reminiscent of Thief mixed with Hitman. I will say though that I feel like I missed out on the majority of the cool stuff in the game due to going for a perfect play through, kind of regret it now. Basically didn't get to do any combat. Ah well, next run will be balls to the wall merciless slaughter! Very Happy

GOTY for me - with nothing coming remotely close to it.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

You're comparing an action game which could and did focus on a single aspect, the combat, which made that aspect excellent, to a game that is much more complete overall Scratch Head What else, other than combat, was better in DM?

Combat:
DM > Dishonored - Hands down! The combat is bland imho.

Stealth: (Yes, there is stealth in DM too!)
DM =< Dishonored - Both aren't exactly Thief quality while Dishonored obviously does a better job than DM.

I'm not saying that Dishonored is bad, I just said that I'm disappointed because of the wasted potential, potential based on my expectations. My expectations where very high and I was under the impression that I'll get the kickass'ness that was DM combined with some Bioshock and Thief on a very high quality level and thought through. But to me it feels like that it's only mediocre in all those aspects, even very bland sometimes.

I guess that my expectations were set a little too high in the end and now I can't ignore it anymore. Destined to be disappointing. Sad
(It goes so far that I don't even feel the urge to finish it at the moment)

*EDIT* Makes me sad that everyone seems to enjoy it that much while I just can't Crying or Very sad

I would have hoped for a DM 2 over Dishonored any day. But one thing I don't like these games too much is that it is chapter based, and both games too short. I would love to see Arkane take on Open world games again in the future. Maybe if this sells well, they will do a Dishonored 2 but open world, that would be great.

Do you mean you made that up to give yourself a challenge or are you talking about the ghost rating of the game itself? If it's the latter, you can get ghost even if you kill people. You just can't be detected, that's all.

Made it up for myself to give me a challenge, to counteract blink, really.

I didn't think PC gamers cared too much about achievements. I used to care about them when I played on my Xbox 360 because people on xbox live were able to see the amount of points a player had

And they don't AFAIK.

Neon was just pointing that out because, as I see it, he did it for himself since he enjoyed the game so much playing that way, not for others to see his imaginary dick hat.
And I was just teasing him since I couldn't get any decent sleep tonight. Sad

Takedown is non-lethal. It's called choke in this game, whatever, you get the point.

I've had like 5-6 situations, where in order to help someone/solve quest, I had to choke people.

I get what you're saying and this is probably one of the reasons why I didn't even download the game yet. Sure, it's awesome that it's a great game, very DXHR-like, but in a steampunk-ish world, but I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting a proper Arkane game, instead it's more like another game made by the guys that made DXHR, from all I've read and seen. Oh, and fucking yes, the stealth in Dark Messiah is brilliant... one of the very few games in which I absolutely loved the stealth aspect.
