So, how's the performance? Does it seems optimized or what?

Smooth as silk on my budget 5560G Laptop (A6-3240M cpu + 7670M graphics:)

Enjoying it, too. Difficulty is really satisfying on Classic, was going to go for Ironman but I think I'll work on my strategy with this playthough first.

Playing it on my laptop atm. i3 2.13 Ghz, Radeon Mobility HD5165

all lower settings (which is fine, its not like I play this game for the insane graphics), plays fine.

Just finished the tutorial on normal (Will play it on classic on my normal rig), is there a reason I can only set my base in US or EU atm?

e: nm, seems its a consequence of playing the tutorial, guess Ill finish it, then restart without the tutorial.

I PLAY ON 3DM VERSION WITH FLT CRACK

How to change language:

Go to Documents\My Games\XCOM – Enemy Unknown\XComGame\Config

Look for the file called XComEngine.ini and under the [Engine.Engine], change the line Language=INT to your language (ESN, DEU, FRA, ITA, JPN, KOR, POL or RUS).

i got the video in my languages but all the interface stay in english...
if somebody find the problem share with us Smile

I've just ordered one from there, hell it's only a tenner, if it doesn't work I'll sell it on eBay or something Laughing

I'll let you know if it does.

you got your key ? mine is still in processing bin Smile.
seems like they dont have the keys yet.

Ok got the key this morning, you MUST activate AND preload via VPN, as it is indeed region locked. I don't know abut actually launching the game yet, but I am going to assume it is also region locked.

I would imagine the cracked executable will work just fine however.

Well, I'm having a blast playing this. It's like the old XCOM, but different at the same time. More streamlined I would say, but not so much so that it's shallow.

I've reached Laser weapons so far and I'm just playing on Normal, no countries lost yet. I do find the range and accuracy of some guns very strange. Shotgun at 50 meters? Riiiight.

The elements are all mingled together well so it fits together like a story. The interceptor sequences are pretty cool and remind me of the old XCOM. As do the terror missions, save that you can get the civies off the map.

Anyway, so far so good. I would say 9/10 overall. A few bugs here and there, but nothing major and it runs great on high everything on my system.

from all the streams i watched , it got pretty dull after a while, yes i enjoyed watching the first few hours but after that the aliens popping up out of nowhere from the rear, and the same old snipers in the back supports in the middle routine really looked dull and the outcome was pretty much determined from the start.

Makes me wish there was an option where i could actually skip the battles after a while, just send a squad, have a % system that i can influence selecting squadleader and equipment and then hope to see them come back alive like a real base commander. Now that would be cool, like the auto battle sysstem in total war or something, even in the original after ufo 100 you hated to see ships go down, you much rather wished they where destroyed during intercept, it gets a bit to much ufos after a while and the same battle routine over and over.

Well it is a futuristic game, real combat shotguns can be effective up to 60-70m I think, give a couple years of sci fi development, 50m is very much legit.

Enjoying it so far with Classic+ironman. Not entirely convinced that the game isn't cheating with the hit percentages. I often miss high percentage shots, but a lone sectoid can regularly snipe my guys behind heavy cover from the edge of the visible range.

I have a Q - While it's unpacking; Is there a way to extract the game files so that Steam thinks they're downloaded and ready to play, rather than use Steam to preload?

You could let it preload for a second, then copy the contents from the release in the /steamapps/common/x-com (?) folder, then go into steam, rightclick on xcom, choose properties and verify local game cache or something like that. I think this used to work.

The other unfortunate point I'm encountering is that the aliens lie dormant until you actually spot them, and they then become active. I don't know if that's a bug or what the deal is with that but hopefully they decide to patch it up. Sad

Really? That's strange because during one of the live streams with the developers he mentioned that they patrol around and move outside the player's vision. They were actually doing that in the stream game. So that's pretty weird. :\

Not only, but they get 1 free turn in doing so!
BUT on missions where you race to save civies, and they to kill them, somehow that's not the same!

That fix works for me (Windows XP SP3).

Game runs surprisingly smooth on my old 8800GT (most settings on low, 1600x900).

I have regularly seen alien patrols walk into my range. Its pretty easy to notice as it happens like this:

You see the aliens walk somewhere as a group inside your vision, then they notice you, get the usual cutscene and they get their usual free move to take cover.

got the key aswell, is region locked, it would not activate with NA la vpn.
i manage to activate just fine with cddiski own vpn, using ukraine.
but is not unlocked yet. nor in ukraine, nor in my country.

i'm a bit of noob now.. whats the next step ?
it is in my list of games, now i need to wait until is released in my country, and i can play without using the vpn ? or i need to have the vpn active every time i want to play ?
can i preloaded on my own ip, or again, with the vpn ?

Well I think it does depend on what mission. If they crash with their UFO they will remain very defensive (which is logical) and pretty much just dig in around the crash site. In terror missions they do roam around and kill people and are more aggressive over all. One time they pretty much swarmed me right at the LZ.

i think in the terror missions the humans run around and if they run into dormant aliens they get killed , i also did not see alien movement untill they get spotted. Except once some flaoters appeared out of nowhere in the players rear, but only after the player spotted some other aliens.
