I am on CFW 3.55. I did not know that there are newer CFW. I thought that 3.55 is the only one that has been cracked.
What CFW should I install in order to be able to play RE6? Can I brick my PS3 attempting this?

3.55 is the only one for now, so don't do anything. Don't upgrade past 3.55 for any reason, not unless you are absolutely sure you no longer care about scene advances (of which ARE happening) or unless you have a hardware flasher to get back to 3.55. Don't listen to any of the nonsense rumours, CFW installation is currently impossible on FW higher than 3.55. Once a higher CFW is out, that will become the new baseline.
If you want to play RE6, wait for an EBOOT to come out.

Thank you for the info. I will stay on 3.55 and wait for EBOOT fix for RE6.
I found this and wondered if it's safe to upgrade to higher CFW.

BTW for people that thought Sony didn't care about us at all : try to log in on PSN with the leaked passphrase, guess what, it doesn't work anymore. Doesn't even ask you to update.
See, the passphrase leaked what, 2 days before 4.25, and they had the time to block it that fast. Also, something tells me more than a new passphrase is behind this !

Whats up with the supposed Red Power 4.21 CFW? Seems fake. I am sticking with 3.55 until there are many succesful upgrade stories myself.

It's not a fake, just not out/sold/leaked yet. Obviously never update to anything > 3.55 because any altered PUP wont install on > 3.55.

Did anyone here try to run the MGS HD collection? It asks me to update to 3.7 but it should work. I got the EU release, patched with "EP0101-BLES01419_00-MGSHDCOLLECTION0-A0103-V0100-PE" and used the fix "Metal.Gear.Solid.HD.Collection.EBOOT.PATCH.103.EUR.PS3-N0DRM". I can't get it to work.

I get the same error when I start it with GAIA, but with the latest version of Multiman it works great.

I'm using the latest version of MM, no luck sadly. Did you do anything special? Are you using the update and fix I mentioned?

I bet the patch made a completely different folder than your game and have the cracked eboot and the rest inside there. Search for a folder like that and move the contents into your real mgs folder.

First I copied MGS to gamez folder, patched it, tried to start with GAIA and it didn't work.
After that I updated MM to the latest version and started it from MM. That is all I did.
This is my version: Metal_Gear_Solid_HD_Collection_PS3-CLANDESTiNE and in the folder I have
BLUS30847
And I think that I pressed the "permission" button in MM for that game.

The cracked content must be placed in the update folder, I did that but no luck.

You have the USA version, that could be it. I'll download that one and try again, thanks. Did you update the game to 1.03?

Just install a 4.25 (or 9.99) spoof if you are too lazy to repack the pkg and edit param.sfo to 3.55.

When I download a PS3 game and I get an .ISO file, should I extract the folders and copy it to the internal HDD or should I copy the .ISO file?
Can I start the .ISO then?
I have GTAIV which is .ISO. I extracted it and copied to internal hdd but the game gives an error when I start it.
I have also GTAIV Complete Edition which I can start but the screen goes dim during loading...

i guess this is an old release not for jailbroken PS3... You can delete it, all files are corrupted in these ISOs, you shouldn't have any ISO

So I got Prometheus on blu-ray, and my ps3 won't let me play it, needs an encryption update.
I have kmeaw 3.55 firmware (or whatever it is called) installed back when it first came out. I've not really bothered keeping up with all this eboot patch business, seemed like too much hassle.
So... basically, do I give up waiting for a new cfw (it's been 2 years) and just update to latest system software ... or buy a standalone bluray player that I cant really afford right now and let the ps3 gather dust for however many more years until, if ever, we get a new cfw... hmmm decisions.

No, ok, I guess I was having a "sell-it rage" because Prometheus wouldn't play.
I haven't played a game on it in over a year, so it's pretty much never used now apart from playing bluray.
But no doubt, if I did sell it, two days later a new hack would come out, then I'd be raging more.

why not simply download the 1080p x264 bluray rip and then stream it to your ps3 via universal medai server (http://www.universalmediaserver.com/).
thats what i ve been doing for years, i almost only use the ps3 for media streaming nowadays.

Just be ready with a UTP cable, the PS3's WiFi does not like streaming high quality stuff (at least my phat NAND doesn't)

just get a standalone player, they are cheap und keep the cfw ps3. only think about selling it when you dont use it anymore, and try to sell it in the places where the people know how much a 3.55kmeaw is worth
