Dude, they are streaming the textures for all items each time you open a container, you think the devs give a shit about LOD ?

It just bothers me, that's all. Borderlands is not alone in this aspect but it's very easy to see. I was just hoping inreased power in hardware would help us get rid of problems such as this. Since they focused a lot on graphics this time around I think it's a valid point. Game is really nice after having spent a few hours with it though.

"Proper rig"? Really? Facepalm Texture streaming is a UE3 issue and yes, it's very much prevalent in BL2 as well as most any other UE3 title .. the extent of which can be mitigated by faster HDD access speeds as well as INI tweaking, but it's still there. It's one of the reasons why UE3 annoys me when developers don't use it properly.

~edit~

Hmm, you deleted but I'm leaving my comment here nonetheless Razz

Yeah i deleted my comment because he wasn't complaining about texture streaming. So it wasn't really relevant.

Tho it still stands, since i run UE3 games on my SSD, i barely had any streaming issues (with most titles anyway).
Before on my old Spinpoint F3 raid0 setup (~160MB/s) i did had issues with streaming textures (altho this was on old cpu (Phenom II x4 955) aswell, so can't be sure if my cpu plays a role aswell)

Tho i have noticed that when i'm frapsing BL2, i do have longer loading times for the textures, but fraps is recording to a different HDD then BL2 is located.
So maybe the amount of fps you have is also a factor?

find this in WillowEngine.ini and set them to 0

MipFadeInSpeed0=
MipFadeOutSpeed0=
MipFadeInSpeed1=
MipFadeOutSpeed1=

that reduces that streaming delay to , well , zero (or close to)

They are only present in newer builds from what I can tell, worth a try though if they exist. Smile

I have an SSD disk myself so I haven't really encountered any other problems. I will try the .ini-tweaks posted though. Very Happy

562 MB update came out, guess that's her.

EDIT: Something with the game updated too.

EDIT:
- Fixed some cases where the Logitech G19 screen would show incorrect information for the friends list.
- Fixed players losing ammo when reloading a savegame with max ammo and a stockpile relic equipped.
- Fixed the vendor UI sometimes showing a count of 1 less item in the player's backpack than is actually there.
- Fixed the favorite/trash icons in the inventory sometimes disappearing when scrolling the inventory list.
- Fixed players getting stuck in a white box when two people try to travel at once and one is in a vehicle.
- Fixed co-op players sometimes spawning at different places after a level transition.
- Fixed the "has abandoned your struggle!" message sometimes appearing with no player name.
- Fixed mini-map fog-of-war sometimes not uncovering correctly when first loading a saved game as a client.
- Fixed a rare crash when trying to select a menu item with the keyboard after playing the game with a gamepad.
- Added "(undiscovered)" entries to the challenge log for challenges that the player has not yet found.
- Fixed a rare crash in the launcher related to using a gamepad.
- Fixed client players sometimes seeing fired bullets fly off in random directions.
- Fixed a blocker in the "Do No Harm" quest. This fix prevents the bug and corrects the issue for any character hit by this bug.
- Fixed a case where players were sometimes being sent back to the main menu after their online status changed when playing a LAN game.
- Fixed a case where shields that reduce the player's health were sometimes not showing how much health they reduce.
- The inventory screen will no longer jump to the top of the list when using a customization item.
- Fixed a case where clients and servers would sometimes see different fast-travel stations available to them.
- Fixed a bug that could cause challenges to re-complete all 5 tiers over and over again.
- Fixed players who have lost access to their 3rd or 4th weapon slot erroneously.
- Allowed players to trade with each other when at maximum backpack capacity if they're trading the same number of items with each other.

EDIT: Tulip AND Orchid? so that's what those were, strange name for DLC though and why two?

EDIT: Tulip is the Mechromancer, Orchid is well I can't really tell, seems it's a bundle of stuff?

EDIT: DLC is seen as corrupt if tampered with, doesn't really work any more but I had to restore the altered ini file for the Premium Pack.

EDIT:

^^ Very cool.

I wonder if she'll be added to the intro movie that introduces the other characters, or get a separate intro altogether?

Would have been nice, unfortunately the opening video is unchanged although it's nothing too distracting, having a separate intro file would have been a nice touch though and worked without replacing or overriding the existing one. Smile

So Gaige out for the Arr folks, yet? Considering how you can get the other (preorder) DLC easily, it shouldnt be a problem.

On another note, Orchid is Pirate DLC, seems it would be released around Halloween

Verify integrity of files. I had to do that to fix the DLC with mine.
