did anyone actually got banned for this? a friend told me that I should turn it off or I might get banned. I don't understand why this should be bannable? that's kinda dumb
just finshed this, did pretty much everything, took me 60 hours
Spoiler:
last boss wasn't that hard though, forging the great shield of artorias is probably one of the best decisions i made, i blocked his attacks and then owned him with the AOE attack from the Dragon King GreatAxe
Really enjoyed the game. Missed some content (said no to the cat in the forest, didn't enter into any covenant, missed the Ash Lake entirely, didn't kill the dragon in the DLC) - gonna take care of that in NG+. Most of the game felt great, except for the few locations (Blight Town, Lost Izalith and the last Area felt tacked on and completely uninspired.)
I enjoyed Demon's Souls a bit more but Dark Souls is a worthy successor.
is that the NPC guy haha, what build are you going for now?
edit:you also seem to be at blighttown, did you cut the gaping dragon's tail? to get a really cool weapon.
oh, shit....that was an npc? ... I thought it was a player because he had a nickname
...I was happy about killing a real player
hehe, yea I've got the dragon sword, it's fucking amazing!
I don't use any particularly skilling-build I guess I need to find a good guide for this game. I was skilling life/strength/endurance and res. until now.

aww crap, I didn't know about the axe :/... already killed the dragon, but I didn't get it.
Dont worry, Kuro. You probably cant use it until well into 2nd playthrough, since the stat requirements are too high (50 str). You can cut his tail next playthrough. I also lost an item, I killed the Bell Gargoyle too quickly and didnt receive the Gargoyle Axe (cut off his tail, gives you great poison and bleed restistance when equipped).
i ramped up str to 50 during my first play through actually, it was a beast of a weapon especially that AOE attack did like 900dmg with it at one time, there are other equally good weapons too, like the one you get from cutting the tail of the dragon in ashlake, which is easy to do since he's passive but getting there is the hard thing to do
While you are at Blight town, go get the Dragon Greatsword as well, one of my favourite during my 2nd playthrough. In fact I think the special attack is even better than the Dragon King Axe as it has more range.
Afaik Dragon weapons dont scale with str so your attack rating will be much higher with +15 weapons or +5 black knight.
Dragon weapon have a already very high base damage. Dragon Greatsword for example have 585 when maxed. I don't think many scale-able weapon goes as high as that at 40 attribute. Black knight greatsword +5 might be higher than that though, I'm not sure.
Balder Side Sword's the best all around weapon in the game
Killed Artorias again, this time with the build above
I cant get enough of him !!
The damage is a bit lower but there are wayyyy more opportunities to get a hit in .. imo 10 times better than moving slow, hitting slow, same for online play, any half decent opponent and you wont get 1 hit on him with str weapons
str weapons are useless without a proper shield, Great shield of artorias has great poise for example i could block the attacks of the giant knights and all the bosses in the game actually even their strong ones. (and artorias too.........and the black dragon)
Every build works in pve, i had pvp in mind when i posted that, as soon as i reach lvl 100 with this character ill try to capture some duels vs str users (proper duels, not fights against people unequiped and unprepared for invasions -.-), probably around sunday night, although my frame rate goes to shit whenever i use fraps
Had some duels with a guy 15 lvls above me, granted he wasnt very good, neither was i, plus i didnt have my rapier at that time -.- but hey.. practice makes better
Only uploaded 3 out of ~20 we had.. they were all too similar -.-

I disagree with str weapons being useless without a proper shield. Having a good shield means your mistakes are not as punishing, but shields are never mandatory in any fight. Two handing a good str weapons mean you can break through anyone's poise with 1-2 hits. Which is easily possible with a well timed dodge (PvE). Against any lesser enemies you one shot them. Anything bigger that is not a boss takes 2-3 hits. Bosses can be tricky, but again do-able if you have experience with the bosses before hand or after a few tries.
However I definitely don't recommend anyone in their first playthrough to do a light weight heavy weapon build and/ or using str weapon with no shield or any shield with less than 50 stability. But I think the slow attack speed and little protection could be useful in getting used to not being hit in the first place, as NG+ and beyond, even the best heavy armours are easily negated.
I'm having trouble killing Smough and Ornstein. Well, the "super" version of Ornstein is badass. I know, I could summon solaire, but I don't have humanity and I have no clue where to find humanity there...
Whew.... finally beat the game at SL1. I have to say that Kalameet and Manus make Lord Gywn look like a powder puff! I think I died at least 75+ times against Manus and over a 100+ with Kalameet (mainly due to trying to get the tail), but beat Lord Gywn on the first attempt.

If you didn't kill Lautrec you should be able to get some humanity if you invade near the stairs with the two Guards and the bowman in it. Otherwise post "Need Humanity" and if you get rated up by another user you get 1 humanity.

Go to the depths and farm rats. They will drop humanity for you. If you have the coveted gold serpent ring, it's quite easy. You find that ring in Sen's fortress.

That is the easiest way to farm humanity in the early stages, but given that he hasn't beaten Smough & Ornstein he won't have the Lord Vessel so no easy way to warp. I assumed he wanted a way to get humanity in Anor without having to backtrack through Sens again and generally users will help out with request for humanity if they can.
I have my first char in ng++ at the bonfire in the depths and 2 other chars stuck at lvl 100 with everything done in normal ng.. but.. the amount of pvp-ers in olascile township makes it hard to want to go back to ng++ and run through the same content for the 5th time.. i'd rather start again from the beginning with a different char/build; will roll a new moonlight build tonight which will make it my 6th playthrough (aside from the xbox ones )
I've played a lot if not all pvp-centric rpgs and mmos but this one surpasses all by far; so no, you're not the only one addicted here

When you fight him, it is important to be dominant. If you keep your distance to block his attacks and wait for an opening, he will kill you in no time .
Instead, rush towards him, run between his legs and try to stay behind or next to him as he turns around to get you. After one of his attacks misses you and he is vulnerable, give him a few hits but be careful to not deplete your stamina.
Having some stamina all the time is vital, since sometimes he will jump straight in the air for a 360° lightning attack. If he jumps, it is your sign to roll the fuck away as if your life depended on it (because it does ).
