Firstly; welcome aboard Smile Secondly; yes, actually, they said that the very direct players will get around 12-14 hours.. but those that like to explore and really dig their teeth in are likely to get around twice as long.

And then there's the Sabin player who somehow manages to triple game lengths by exploring each and every brick Wink Razz

Seriously, there was a game we both were playing, I took my time, looked at it all. By the end, you had like..an extra 4 years in the game. Not sure what happened, I think you may have left the game minimized Razz

Say whaaa? What game was this? And usually if I've ever left a game dormant for any reason I tend to take that into account (Borderlands 2, for instance, Steam reckons 52 hours but it's more like 45) -- but yeah.. I love taking my time, REALLY getting into a game as much as possible for my first run Very Happy

Thanks! Been here for years, never felt the need to join in on the conversations, but hell, why not. Smile

12-14 hours does seem a bit short I guess. And I don't see much use of exploring if you're not actually finding loot (think borderlands). I guess it's all about finding the most creative way to get the job done. Anyways I'm excited, can't wait. Thanks for the info sabin.

And after that there's me and after me there's 4treyu who managed to do a playthrough of Darksiders longer than both of mine put together. Laughing

The game is about 12-24 hours in length. The variance there is related to how directly you play (vs side quests, exploration, etc).

Our answer would be something like this: We are into a very specific gameplay experience that we love above all. The atmospheric hybrid of first-person, stealth, variable powers, etc. And this combination brings by definition some replayability. We squeezed everything we had into this game...we're rather make one highly variable game that takes 20 hours and can be replayed. Dishonored is just the result of our creative drives.

That is called fetishism xD

But yeah Very Happy , if the game interests me, I usually spend a lot of time trying to explore every single level and talk to any character around. Not to mention when the game allows different strategies, in that case I even replay missions just too see the different outcomes.

Hmm, ~5% sales tax. Could narrow that down by state I'm sure. It's not California that's for sure.

There's a store number at the top of the receipt. The shop is in Virginia.

Unfortunate that Steamworks will block him but I guess they didn't expect stores to start selling this early, though that always happens for some reason. Very Happy

New content format as well so unpacking the data won't really be doable either until release day and even then it might be quite troublesome due to the different version depot cache files and such required for this.

True but I was under the impression that breaking street date was very risky due to contracts, then again "best buy" isn't a small store chain so they likely won't have any problems for it.
(I haven't seen any stores recently even stacking games up for display before the release date though as far as I've understood it's shipped out like a week in advance so it's sitting in the storeroom for a while, guess in this case they decided to act and start selling it immediately, which no doubt will give a bit of extra profit.*)

(*And this likely means there will be a early leak of the game data and also a PS3 and X360 release soon, if I were to guess, no doubt they are also selling the console versions of the game.)
