Hypothetically speaking, I loose my Windows XP Pro Corp Version key, what keygen would allow me to generate a key to authenticate against Microsoft’s new Anti-Piracy check at Windows Update?

Because these are blocked too, appearently.
I've used a corporate version, but it doesn't get passed the Genuine Windows Validation check.

This works great for both legit and non-legit keys!

Three Easy Steps to a better Windows Update Experience:

1. After you have installed the new Windows Genuine Advantage ActiveX control in Internet Explorer select "Tools", "Manage Add-ons".

2. This will bring up the Manage Add-Ons window to allow you to enable or disable any installed module. You have two options to view the modules: Add-ons that currently loaded by Internet Explorer and Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer. Select which ever one lists "Windows Genuine Advantage".

3. Click on "Windows Genuine Advantage" to select it and then click Disable. This will allow you to fully access Windows Update without Microsoft invading your privacy.

NOTE: You might have to try accessing Windows Update first to get "Windows Genuine Advantage" to show up in the list. Regardless, once you disable it, you have full access to the site.

Also, the whole deal boils down to one dll file in windows/system32: LegitCheckControl.dll. I'm sure somebody will hack/crack/modify this dll to always report its a good key.

Enjoy!

I copy from neowin.net site
To download files from download.microsoft.com choose a file, then paste

javascript:void(document.cookie='WinGenCookie=validation=0;expires=Sat, 1 Jan 2050 12:00:00 UTC')

to address textbox, press enter and refresh a page. Instead of "continue" button you will see "download" button.

Tested in IE, Mozilla

Example of file page:
Code:

Why should someone bother with this if he/she has a legit key? My legit corp key works as usual, no need to change anything.

why jump through more of MS's hoops. Next I will have to give them my blood for DNA records, family tree, credit report and all just to play a legit wma I payed for.

This is a perfect example of why these activations/validations don't work and just cause more issues for those who buy the software. Everyone who gets the pirated stuff has it cracked, and it just works. On the other hand you buy it, activate it, validate it. Change some hardware around in your system, and everything wants to re-activate, etc. In the end it only hurts the legit user.

Lol thanks for this, this fix is so simple and it still workz, i think they are taking a leniant approach to pirates of windows, which makes sense tho because every operating system needs to be updated anyways or it can cause major problems with viruses.worms etc.

well you can always run a WSUS server at home and get your updates from that server, the WSUS server is free and it's not checking for any keys.

WSUS officially only runs on windows 200x servers, but you can make it run on windows xp prof. And the wsus server software does not check for any keys at the moment.

MS didn't want your business anyway... oh wait.. your not business... How about buying it? OEM Copys are cheap as regular games these days.

Not Everybody has it cracked, not only that but many many people around the world are getting fake copys sold to them at the real price and pre-installed.

I've seen many users across several forums only discover this recently.

Yeah, it wants you to re-activate....click click next...done...or make a phone call...how hard is it? not hard at all, and you get peace of mind getting windows update without needing "workarounds" or bugs or lock outs in the near future

You missed my point, I was merely answering the question of why someone may want to use the 'workaround'. I never said those options would fit everyones needs, or be the best available options...

PostPosted: Thu, 28th Jul 2005 10:49    Post subject: Hmmm - I got a question
For those of you that have had issues with Windows Genuine Advantage, I have a question.

When windows came back and told you the key you had was not-legit, does it just stop you from doing windows update or does it lock you out of windows itself requiring a re-activation of windows (or something similar) ? Basically what I am asking is does it screw with your windows installation?

Myself, I dont have this problem. I got a notebook that came with XP pro SP2 installed (which I still had to activate mind you .. sigh). So everything is perfectly legit at my end. I was just wanting to know.
