Same happened to me...What's the cause? Small 10mb update?
No, we have no bears on the streets here in Russia.

Every time I've restarted it has always put me back at the fast travel station in the area, I didn't know you could be positioned further into the level and I thought that those other checkpoints were just for respawning and auto-saving with the current play session.

Tho I honestly wouldn't bother with farming if you're still in the first playthrough, the drop rates are kinda shit even with vault hunter's relic & 4 players mode. Better save the "fun" till later.
@Sin:
Just poor design; lots of spots where you can avoid the damage he does indefinitely.

Brighter means it's a E-tech weapon, it's a sort of barrel modification that causes it to behave differently but yeah it's classed above normal items.
(The pistol that I have so far shoots these dart things that explode after some time, rifle fires a sort of laser beam that deflects upon hitting a solid object, not sure what the others can do but as in the above image most of these guns have some elemental damage as well, slag is quite common.)
EDIT: Seems I could be wrong then, maybe.
EDIT: Also finished the first part of the game, started on the second after a (really epic.) failed attempt at killing a certain worm, I can't beat it without higher level equipment.
Also got this thing as a random quest near the end of the game, had two possible outcomes and this is what happened when I sided with the original quest giver, not too bad for a pistol, wonder what the high level version on the True Vault mode has?
EDIT: More weird stuff.
And some other items.

That's just jpg being shitty again (all the colors are dimmer compared to the lower picture, not just the weapon name). The magenta weapons are a special case, as they're all e-tech weapons.

You haven't yet? The game is so much better without that (or rather if it's kept to a minimum - low). The performance drops are huge here when all that rubble jumps around. Amazing! Those effects are also either ugly or very distracting.

That was the problem in the first game as well, if you did some of the side quests (not even all), you could get seriously overlevelled for the main quest. This obviously just makes the game too easy.
A friend and I are playing coop and we decided to just do the main quest (now at level 25) since we're constantly overlevelled for the mission. It's a shame because I want to do the side quests as they appear to be more quirky and fun than the main ones, but I also want the game to remain challenging.

The quest may say it's trivial, but the level range for any given zone is set when you first enter it; that is, even if you have overleveled, you'll still face enemies similar to your level.

The enemies are indeed set to your level so it's far from easy (some trivial SQs also lead you to very strong bosses), but might the loot be connected to MQ progression?

I believe the "Trivial" bit will basically just apply to the rewards. You get laughably low amounts of cash, weaker weapons and low EXP too.
