|
 |
Anyone got advice on a cheap AM3/AM3+ mobo that can support up to 4 ram strips and minimal 16gb of ram?
I had the Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 ordered, but this mobo doesn't support USB before actually installing the drivers in windows (i know it's fucking strange), when the SATA controller is set to ACHI or RAID it doesn't read the HDD's properly in the bios and finally after installing windows (with controller set to IDE) and i did a bios update, my ram wouldn't get detected anymore (unless i removed one) and only 1 of my 4 HDD's...
So i'm returning that one and need a fairly cheap replacement (max €100,-)
Any advice would be appreciated.

I updated to F10 bios and then the ram/hdd issue started.
I'm using Kingston Hyper X blu 8GB, PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600) ( Kit Of 2 ) as ram (KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX)

Kingston HyperX Blue have somehow lower compatibility. I have some issue with those RAM sticks at work. And they are not on the ASRock's QVL list for that motherboard either.
EDIT: Sorry I'm so tired recently due to fuckload of work. Didn't noticed you've changed the RAM too.
Have you tried booting it with only one RAM stick? Do you populate the DIMM slots as it is in manual?

They are not HyperX, they are ValueRAM and they are on their list:
Everything should fucking work.
Gave my own ram a try, another vidcard (because the monitor wouldn't turn on, and the GPU fan is stuck at 100% the whole time it's on) and another PSU.
Eventually i gave up, put my old mobo back with the correct hardware and it's working flawless...
I always get this kind of fucked up shit...

We have decided to get another mobo and cpu this time.
The server is now getting a MSI B75MA-P45 with the Intel i5-2500K and 16GB of ram
We got a nice discount from MyCom if we bought at them that we couldn't refuse
(let's hope there are no more issues now tho >.<)

Well the new hardware is running flawless (except that my hdd died).
But way better then with the prev (my minecraft server was taking up to 75% usage on idle)
