They get various bonuses too so creature growth can overwhelm you even if you have the entire map and he has just the castle, even later on when you have the better units.

But yeah it's been like that in every HoMM game as far as I am aware though it can be accelerated further depending on what week bonus that is in affect and the difficulty level.

I always took my time in HOMM3 and never encountered this problem before. It's crazy here. How am I supposed to complete a map when I have to capture three castles with hordes of enemies? This is on Normal, so I can't even magine how frustrating it must be on Hard. There's no time to build up troops and recover losses. You're forced to rush from one battle to another. This might be the first game I bought that I won't finish.

Edit: well fuck me I can't progress. It's just impossible. I like challenging gameplay, but this is just frustrating. Fuck it, I'll play Civ.

There is a problem with this v1.7.1 release, the 1.50 update will not install, says game is not installed, even on a clean installation with all the previous updates applied, as in the nfo.

You need to put all the patches from 1.0 to 14, as those are not cumulative. After that start applying 1.50 and higher.

Perhaps you read my post too quickly, you will find the 1.5 update will not install, regardless of patching with v1.1, v1.1.1, v1.2.0, v1.2.1, v1.3, v1.4 prior to running v1.5.

Try restoring the original files (no cracks, no altered files and try reinstalling the patches on an extremely clean installation - just don't add any cracked file). Some patches are still verifying the file integrity.

If it still fails, start game.exe from the installation folder, let the game update, put 1.71 Reloaded cracked files).

I'm waiting for info on that too, I've got the game installed but I stopped playing due to the constant AI army build-up. It was bad in HoMMV but nowhere near these levels Sad

This is how i managed to patch it
If the normal efigs patch doesnt work you need to use the digital_efigs patch
For the reloaded release use:

hmm6_digital_1.1_efigs.exe
hmm6_digital_1.1.1_efigs.exe
hmm6_digital_1.2_efigs.exe
hmm6_digital_1.2.1_efigs.exe

hmm6_1.3_efigs.exe
hmm6_1.4_efigs.exe

hmm6_digital_1.5_efigs.exe
hmm6_digital_1.5b_efigs.exe
hmm6_digital_1.5.2_efigs.exe

Havent patch beyond 1.5.2 but i dont see any reason why it shouldnt work

INSTALL NOTES

1. Unpack the release
2. Mount or burn image
3. Install
4. Run hmm6digital1.7efigs.exe from UPDATE folder on the DVD
5. Run hmm6digital1.7.1efigs.exe from UPDATE folder on the DVD
6. Copy everything from the SKIDROW folder into the game installation
7. Block the game in your firewall and mark our cracked content as
secure/trusted in your antivirus program, if needed
8. Play the game
9. Support the companies, which software you actually enjoy

As you can see, the Gold Edition is up to 1.6 from the box (that piece of intel was for the people that might want to buy it).

so just tried - DLCs seems to be included in latest patch and RLD 1.71 exe doesnt unlock it and the skidrow one does (tried skidrow crack on retail patched upto 1.71 and both DLC works with skidrow exe)

So are you saying that the Skidrow crack actually unlocks BOTH adventure packs when updated? Or.. like me.. you actually have a retail copy of the game then use the Reloaded update and then the Skidrow crack from the ''Gold'' edition and got them both?

I actually downloaded the Skidrow release yesterday and oddly enough.. not even their release has the second ''Danse Macabre'' expansion unlocked in it. Even though you can see it as ''unlocked'' under the DLC main menu option.. it should show up as a playable campaign right in the main campaign menu where the other faction's campaigns are (and where I CAN see the Pirate campaign as well) but it doesn't. So even though Skidrow says they unlocked it.. it's simply not playable because there's nowhere to access it!

I'd gladly try using Reloaded's cracked update on my retail copy and then Skidrow's crack for the new release if it unlocked both campaigns as I cant afford either DLC right now, but I guess that wouldn't allow me to access the Conflux anymore and all my Dynasty shit.

Hmmm.. decisions.. decisions.

Bahh! I just figured out where I screwed up. After installing the Gold Edition last night and updating to 1.7.1 I also dropped in a mod file that was made for 1.5.2 that gave Dynasty weapons offline. It was the mod file that mucked up the second DLC and not Skidrow. Thanks for the heads up that it actually worked though, because I dropped the original Data15.orc file back in and now it's working fine.

Still a little concerned about using it on my retail copy (and Ubisoft catching it), so it seems I have a choice of playing the DLC offline and none of my earned dynasty traits.. or playing it retail with the dynasty content but no DLC. Maybe separate installs in each of my operating systems? Smile

So, can anyone comment on that issue? I've liked the game when it came out, but delayed playing it at the time...I'd like to try again, but if this issue is still there, I'd rather skip - it's not the way I enjoy playing those types of games.

There's not much to comment on, this functionality is nearly the same although the balance fixes with 1.5 and now also 1.7 might have helped a bit but it works the same way, everything grows stronger each passing week but I think it's also depending on difficulty level and somewhat on weekly bonuses to growth. Smile
(It's more of a issue on the normal campaigns where you don't have that many powerful units early on, for the DLC it seems you have a better selection though it varies from mission to mission if you have a base town available or if you'll have to rush and capture one first.)

Sounds good to me, would have been nice to add it to the existing HoMM6 install but stand-alone isn't too bad either.

2 big expansions was planned before both with 2 of 4 remaining factions(Dungeon/Sylvan/Academy/Fortress)

They did the same thing with Heroes 5 though as have many others so it's nothing new, unfortunately.
(Those Warhammer 40K games for example, Starcraft 2 arguably and as you said EA is busy with Command & Conquer.)

EDIT: That above with two factions per expansion sounded better. Smile
(So I guess it'll be this expansion with Dungeon and maybe one more depending on sales.)
