Ok... now, firstly I am not able to promise anything, because well, that's just sensible 
I have been wanting to create a mmo type game now for a few years, and it has been in my head for a long time. However, I just cannot decide on a specific plan of design.
I would love some constructive ideas and suggestions from you guys as you are obviously comprised of the best gaming minds the planet has to offer. Right?
Let me set the basics out for you - I don't want to give all my ideas away because they're way too cool for you of course 
I want to create a DECENT non-webbrowser based MMO hacking game, based on a fictional underground storyline I already have on paper (and doesn't impact the game design).
The absolute basic ideas I have are fairly simple; I want to base the game on attack and defense, and against real people across the globe in real time. I want it to loosely follow real world tech, simplified for ease of game play.
I envision a semi sandbox game, much like Eve Online, without the nice graphics I want the game to be played totally within a fictitious OS, but with similar systems of power and corporations
I DON'T want this game to look anything like Uplink, or those hacking games on Steam as I just find them pretty basic and very unrealistic.
I envision combat revolving around a separate and fictitious IP address system, which you would somehow acquire during play. Communication, email - all that sort of thing would be self-contained within this world.
I don't have specific gameplay mechanics yet, nor reward and 'gear' upgrades yet. That's something I am struggling to decide upon.
So, please, let me know what you would like in a perfect game. I'm only keeping this to the Hump for now because I just want a broad discussion.
Oh and I am very much capable of writing this game - this isn't a flight of fancy

make it like ultima online or eve, ie. with a player-driven world and economy,
the lack of a proper implementation of these aspects is the reason why all the other mmos
are absolute crap.

Definitely, thats one of my main goals - an almost self-sustaining gameworld would be ideal.

Hmm... I do like the virtual scripting thing... I would like people other than those who know what a For....Next loop is to play though...
ohh.. garus you genius... Howabout using that as a skill in game - and it really would be.. Those who can code, do it and sell their scripts ingame... *ponders*
