I agree at marking 100 the defender should at least be 1 foot away from the attacker.
No, I think the "root of the problem" are the fanboys that buy the game no matter what. It's the kiddies on YouTube that blindly write "Fifa shit PES king" on any video. Well, to me this rubs off on the other spectrum: PES shit!; FIFA good.
I can confirm this. I don't have many friends who play games intensively, it's usually PES online. All of them pre-order PES the moment it's announced, it's crazy. If I ask them why, it's a simple "FIFA sucks and PES rules!". What's the last FIFA game you tried? Oh right FIFA 1999 The PES fanbase is a cult IMO, no amount of info can change their minds.

PES fans cant grasp why a lot of old ISS/PES fans have left the series and won't comeback. It is amusing the banter is like rival football team supporters to the point of defending each title..kind of like kick off 2 and sensi soccer was back in the day but on a much larger scale...and we all know kick off 2 was the better game
The keepers are retarded. I've conceded 3 goals in 1 match because the keeper decided to punch out slow, direct shots to the opposition while he refuse to recover from laying on his stomach. And wingers still refuse to run forward for through balls unless you tell them to. While I understand the positive of giving players control, seeing your winger stand just literally half a meter from you and just spectates the match is annoying.
The good thing is the AI defense is a lot better at intercepting through balls, and tackles are a lot more reliable and accurate now. When you have possession, the AI really does well to pressure you as hard as they can without leaving open space for through balls. Also AI don't seem to do those Messi runs again and again anymore. You can actually position your defense well and try to delay, then tackles it.
For master league they removed that stupid conversation system (I think), so thank god for that. And skipping dates are a bit faster now.
Graphically there are like no changes at all. Players turning animations are noticeably better, other then that, I don't see much difference.

Teammate AI makes constant runs in wings.You must be playing the other game or you've chosen an All-out Defense tactic by mistake.
Right, because I would record myself playing a game. I've played 6 games so far in ML. The rebound problem is not as terrible as I get better at defending in the first place. However the keeper is still too random. Sometimes it does awesome saves, sometimes he just couldn't hold on to balls you would think a professional keeper playing such a high level would be able to.
Try using a AMF or CMF and dribble to the flanks, your wingers will just stand there and let you pass him. Sometimes he does runs forward a bit, but the closer you are to him, the less likely he will make space for himself. I always either play All out attack or possession (offensive).
I decided to at least give it a go until fifa arrives. I played 2 games and then uninstalled. This was really bad compared to fifa 12. So dissapointed.

I've let countless amounts of goals in through not being allowed to touch the ball when there's not a single cpu player anywhere near the ball. My player refuses to take the ball and it rolls nicely into the path of a cpu player to slide a snail-like ball that my keeper can't catch. Nice Konami!!! You're on the right path.
And I was seriously thinking about buying this piece of crap. Definitely not gonna do it now. What has happened to this game series?

I don't know, maybe I'm getting too old but I'm not bothered by those non-fluid animations some of you guys mention (I don't even notice them). Anyways, I played several matches in the FIFA demo and everytime I got bored quickly. Here in PES I really love the controls, which seem to be kinda complex at first but they're starting to grow on me and they allow you to do so much variated stuff. Also, I really prefer the graphics in PES, specially the lighting which I think is too unrealistic/exaggerated in FIFA.
I'm not interested in playing online so that's another plus. I also intend to take advantage of that modding community that exists around the franchise.
Finally, add to that licenses for Ligue 1 (which is the one I'd play in season mode with PSG) + Champions + Libertadores and it's an easy call for me.

I think it's definitely normal especially if you haven't played the 2011/2012 versions (when PES started to borrow -good- ideas from Fifa).
The series has gotten much better since the disastrous PES2008 and like I said some posts ago, only the old engine is limiting its potentiality. The game has an enjoyable core and the AI is really good, it's a shame that the animations system is so unpleasant to the eyes. (and I envy the fact that it doesn't bother you xD)

Edit: ok I've gotten at least a little hint on how to defend. Now to my new problem. How do you stop the ball or cpu player going through my player? The ball is passed nicely to my player and he's about to smoothly take it down and play... and then the cpu player goes through my player and takes the ball.
Yes I know they had these back in the day but how the hell are they still in the game after almost ten years of annual releases.
I loved Pes games and was looking forward to this have got the pesedit 1.0 patch and the game does look better but the feel of the game is not what i espected:
I always played pes on professional level or higher but this 2013 version i had to put it down to regular and still is tasteless
1 - your team goalkeeper is a mess and makes too many mistakes
2 - the players run around like chickens when they are supposed to be chasing the ball
3 - the cpu players run is much better that your own team.
4 - unless the net was 2 floors high and 1 mile wide its hard to score
oh and have you noticed the ref continuously whistling for every tackle you make.
anyway this time will get fifa 13 and check side by side and i am not a fifa lover.

This year I'll skip all football games. They're always the same, with the only real difference being the updated rosters.
Nice, I just updated first with the RLD update, then with the 2.0.1 fix for Pesedit.
However, now when I launch the game it tries to connect to the PES servers until it times out, before even showing the main menu. It didn't happen before updating. Are you guys seeing this behavior as well?
